(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Karen Sue Schenker, age 81, passed away at 1:16 am, Monday, February 17, 2025 at her home. She was born October 21, 1943 in Ft Scott, KS to Gentry and Georgia Lucille (Miller) Farrell. She graduated from high school in Rich Hill, Missouri with the class of 1961.
Karen married Billie “Bill” Ray Schenker later that year in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death October 15, 2019.
Bill and Karen were blessed with four sons, Kevin (Cherie) of McCune, KS, Kent (Jennifer) of Oswego, KS, Kyle (Amy) of Harrisonville, MO, and Kraig of Oswego, KS. She delighted in her 16 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Roger Farrell of Butler, Missouri.
She worked several years as a para-professional at Neosho Heights School, Oswego, KS. She was a member of St Paul’s Lutheran Church, Oswego, KS where she actively participated as the Christmas Program Director and was the church organist for a long time.

Visitation will be from 5:00 – 7:00 pm, Friday, February 21, 2025 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church, 522 5th St, Oswego, KS.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Saturday February 22, 2025 at St Paul’s Lutheran Church. Pastor Rocco Mallardi and Pastor David Symm will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, south of Oswego. Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home, Oswego, KS.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St Paul’s Lutheran Church.
