(From Derfelt Funeral Home)Calvin Wayne McGuire, a lifetime resident of Joplin, Missouri passed from this world on February 19, 2025 at the age of 73. Calvin was born on October 21, 1951 in Lawrence, Kansas to Delbert Wayne and Pauline (Stratton) McGuire.
Calvin graduated from Parkwood High School in 1969. He later graduated from Missouri Southern State College with a Bachelor of Science in Sociology in 1992. He owned and operated McGuire Distributing Company and MoKan Snack Foods, and then worked as a real estate appraiser for McGuire Appraisal Service. He was a friend of Bill W. for twelve years.
Calvin is survived by his mother, Pauline McGuire, his children, Robert McGuire, Jason McGuire, Angela McGuire Beeson, his siblings, Peggy (Terry) Henderson of Independence, MO, Martin (Sandy) McGuire of Joplin, MO, Beth (Tom) Buford of Neosho, MO, and Brian (Cammy) McGuire of Joplin, MO along with three grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Wayne McGuire; his brother, Darrel Gene McGuire; and one niece, Lydia Beaver.
Mr. McGuire has been entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena for cremation. A memorial service will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Burial will follow at Gandy Cemetery, rural Galena.
Visitation will take place 11:00 AM until the service begins.
