(From Clark Funeral Home)Mrs. Lois Jean Hammack went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 30, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri, at the age of 84. She was born on August 8, 1941, to Howard T and Rose Mae (Romstead) Tackett in Kansas City, Missouri.
Lois attended school at Northeast in Kansas City. She married the love of her life, Lonny Hammack, on October 28, 1957, in Kansas City. They shared thirty-three years of marriage, until his passing on November 21, 1990.
Lois was a hard worker and woman of faith. She faithfully read her Bible daily and never missed a Sunday service at Gospel Lighthouse in Neosho, Missouri. She worked at Sunbeam of Neosho for a time and retired as a Quality Controller at Tyson Foods of Neosho.
She loved to play BINGO at the Fairmount Community Center every week. She looked forward to gathering with friends for lunch and to catch up, but she especially enjoyed playing BINGO. She was a skilled seamstress and a wonderful cook, mastering both cooking and baking. She was locally famous for her ten-pound carrot cakes. It’s said you could gain five pounds from eating one. She was also known for her delicious strawberry cake and never-duplicated pork steak. She got her cooking skills from her mother. They were both amazing cooks, who passed down their recipes and love of cooking, but no one can make their special dishes quite as delightful as they did.
Lois is survived by her daughter Cheri Sanders of Independence, Missouri; grandson Ronnie (Ashley) Sauders of Lawrence, Kansas; two sisters-in -law Masako Tackett and Florence Hammack both of Neosho, Missouri, numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and bonus daughter Faith (Tom) Taylor of Kansas City, Missouri.
She was preceded in death by her parents Howard T and Rose Mae Tackett, her husband Lonny Hammack, her brother Dewayne Tackett, and son Lonny Dewayne Hammack.
Services will be held at Clark Funeral Home Chapel of Memories in Neosho, Missouri on Monday, January 5, 2026. Visitation will begin at 1:00 pm and the funeral will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Granby Memorial Cemetery in Granby, Missouri.
