Ollie Morris

(From Parker Mortuary)

Olive Pearl Morris, affectionately known as Ollie to her friends and family, passed away on December 12, 2025, in Joplin, Missouri. Born on September 5, 1947, in the Philippines, Olive's journey led her to touch the lives of many with her loving, interesting, and thoughtful nature.

Ollie's early years were spent in the vibrant landscapes of her birthplace before she moved to the United States, where she eventually settled in Joplin.

A culinary artist at heart, Olive was a very accomplished chef and her career included working for several area restaurants and country clubs. Her passion for cooking was not only her profession but also a way to express her love and care for those around her. Olive's creativity extended beyond the kitchen; she had a unique talent for making handmade cards, which she lovingly crafted for friends who were unwell, always finding ways to bring comfort and joy to others.

Ollie's interests were as diverse as her culinary dishes. Her home was a haven for movie nights, as evidenced by her extensive DVD collection, which she cherished. Puzzles were yet another pastime that Olive enjoyed, often spending hours piecing together intricate designs. In recent years, Olive developed a fondness for flamingos, which she incorporated into her home décor, and she had begun to collect yard gnomes, adding a touch of whimsy to her outdoor space.

Family was the centerpiece of Ollie's world. She is survived by her loving daughters, Lara Hicks, Deborah Morris, and Kristine Morris, all of whom inherited her strength and kindness. Olive's sisters, Susan Anderson and Teri Pfluger, will remember her as a beacon of light and a source of unwavering support. Her ex-husband, Kenneth Morris, remained a special family friend, and together they shared a bond that transcended life's changes.

Ollie leaves behind a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family, and friends who will forever cherish the memories they created with her. Her warm presence and the care she showed for those around her will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

As Ollie's legacy lives on through her family and the many lives she touched, we are reminded of the profound impact one person can have on the world. Her loving spirit, her thoughtful gestures, and her interesting take on life are the gifts she leaves us with, gifts that will continue to inspire and comfort her 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren whom each she adored.

Olive Pearl Morris's life was a tapestry of love, laughter, and culinary masterpieces.

Funeral services for Mrs. Olive Pearl Morris will take place at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 at College Heights Christian Church with Nathan Morris officiating.

The arrangements will be handled under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary.
