Virginia Lentz

Virginia Lentz, known for her kind heart and gentle spirit, passed away on December 28, 2025, while at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett, MO. She was born on October 18, 1928, in Lanagan, MO, the cherished daughter of the late Lyford Leon Freeman and Mary Opal (Bettes) Freeman.

Virginia called Newton County, Missouri, her home for the majority of her life. She found not only solace but also a sense of belonging at the Granby Gospel Tabernacle in Granby, Missouri, where she was a devoted member. Virginia genuinely loved her church family, considering them as dear to her heart as her own kin. Her generous and loving nature endeared her to all who had the privilege of knowing her.

On January 8, 1949, Virginia Freeman and Harland Scott Lentz were united in marriage in Benton County, AR. They were blessed with many wonderful memories made together before his passing on December 25, 1985.

She is survived by her loving son, Clyde Lentz, of Pierce City, Missouri, and devoted daughter, Terri Butterfield, also of Pierce City, Missouri. Virginia's memory will be held dear by her five grandchildren: Ronny Lentz, Sherry Jones, Larry Lentz, Holly Siron, and Angela Long; as well as by her seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves behind a host of extended family members and friends who will forever cherish the impact she had on their lives.

Virginia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Harland Scott Lentz; daughter-in-law, Beverly Lentz; and one sister, Dixie Largen.

In the hearts of those who knew her, Virginia Lentz will be fondly remembered for her unwavering kindness, her heartfelt generosity, and the love she shared with all. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by the love of those who have gone before her.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Macedonia Cemetery, Stella, MO, with Pastor Carol Oakes officiating. Calling hours will be from 8:00 a.m. until noon on Friday at the funeral home. In memory of Virginia, memorial contributions can be made to the Granby Gospel Tabernacle Building Fund. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, Monett.
