(From Daniel Funeral Home)Everett “Skip” Forest Felkner III, age 65, of Lamar, Missouri, passed away on December 19, 2025, at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, Missouri.
Skip was born August 8, 1960, in Lamar, Missouri, to Everett Forest Felkner Jr. and Retha Joyce (Russell) Felkner-Squires. He graduated from Lamar High School with the Class of 1978. On August 30, 1980, he married Tina Jean Sweeney in Jasper, Missouri, and together they shared 45 years of marriage.
Skip worked at O’Sullivan Industries from 1980 to 1998 before owning and operating 7th Street Machine until 2020. He was an avid hunter and especially cherished teaching his daughter Crystal how to deer hunt. Skip was a private pilot and enjoyed playing golf in his free time.
His love of horses began at a young age. Skip raised horses and helped his grandfather show horses, creating treasured memories—especially attending the American Royal Horse Show together. During the 1980s and 1990s, Skip and several friends participated in team roping in Jerico Springs.

Skip was a proud member of the Masonic Lodge and found great fulfillment in sponsoring three children through Shriners Children’s Hospital in St. Louis. Skip was a Past Master of Lamar Lodge 292, Joplin Scottish Rite, Abou Ben Adhem. He and Craig Swartz reinstated Barton County Shrine Club and reactivated with Abou Ben Adhem. Skip was Raja of Barton County Shrine Club for the first 3 years after reinstatement.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Tina Felkner; two daughters, Melissa (Mike) Blackburn and Crystal (Matt) Mengel; three grandchildren, Savannah Blackburn, David Blackburn, and Archer Mengel; his mother, Retha (C.L.) Squires; and one brother, Joe Felkner (Carla Jones).
He was preceded in death by his father, Everett Forest Felkner Jr.
A funeral service with Masonic rites will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 26, 2025, at Daniel Funeral Home, with burial to follow at Howell Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Shriners Children’s Hospital (St. Louis) or the American Kidney Fund, in care of the funeral home.
