Charles Stockton

Charles Curtis Stockton was born April 12, 1942 in Granby, Missouri, the son of Roy and Alicia Mae (Hood) Stockton. 

He entered into rest on January 1, 2017 at his home in Neosho at the age of 74. Charles was a lifelong area resident. He had worked in maintenance at Tri State Motor Transit and was a member of the Silver Moon Full Gospel Church. 

 Charles married Ellen Theodora (Wagner) Stockton on Feb. 27, 1967 in Miami, OK and she survives. Additional survivors include three children, Elizabeth Hurn and husband, Michael of Granby; John H. Burnett, III of Anderson and Cary Stockton of Neosho; an aunt, Hopie Ross of Independence, MO; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Ilene Garner

Ilene Mae Garner was born August 17, 1925 in Pulaskifield, Missouri and entered into rest on January 1, 2017 in Joplin, Missouri at the age of 91. 

 Ilene was a lifelong Newtonia, Missouri resident and a homemaker. She was a member of the Newtonia Battlefield Association and a member of the Newtonia Baptist Church and was the longest living member of the congregation until her death. 

 Ilene and Leon Garner were married on Jan. 24, 1942 in Neosho and he preceded her in death on May 28, 2001. Ilene is survived by three daughters, Gail Higdon and husband, Tom of Newtonia; Robin Courtney of Joplin and Michele Rook and Pat Mabrey of Neosho; two sisters, Jewell Collinsworth and husband, Charles of Granby and Violet 'Vi' Branham and husband, John of Stella; two grandsons, Todd Higdon and wife, Tina of Neosho and Greg Higdon and wife, Crystal; great grandchildren, Cheyanne and Christian Higdon and Zach and Noah Higdon; two step great grandchildren, Colin and Lyn and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Perry and Alpha (Enlow) Harris; son, Gary Garner on Jan. 1, 1965 and sisters, Imogene Shelito, Christine Michael, Lola Lewis, Betty Garren and Anne Barber.

Keith Tedrick

Frederick “Keith” Tedrick, passed at his home, Friday December 30, 2016 at the age of 86.

Keith was born October 23, 1930 in Vandalia, Illinois to Fred and Alice (Belcher) Tedrick. On June 10, 1955, he married Ella Ione Pruett, in Edwardsville, Illinois. He was the owner and operator of an outdoor amusement company. Keith loved to hunt, fish, and build birdhouses, but his grandchildren were the love of his life. He was of the Lutheran faith.

Keith leaves behind his wife of 61 years, Ione, of the home; one son, Robin and his wife Tina Tedrick, Stratford, Iowa; two daughters, Kelly Tedrick, Lamar, Missouri and Shelley and her husband Shawn Starmer, Jasper, Missouri; three sisters, Judy and husband Mike Sisler, Pekin, Illinois, Joann Kadell, Alton, Illinois and Imogene Jones, Roxana, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremey, Josh, Cody, Seth, Jordan, and Baylee; nine great-grandchildren, Kelsey, Dontye, Nolan, Ayla, Allison, Montana, Dylan, Indie, and Presley. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and three sisters.

A private service is planned.

Lacie McCulloch

Lacie Marie McCulloch 31, Hartville, MO passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 after a lengthy illness.

She was born February 6, 1985 in Pittsburg, KS to Virgil Leon McCulloch and Charlotte Marie “Griffin” McCulloch. She was homeschooled and then became a fulltime homemaker and mom to her sons, Jeffery Devore and Ethan Beaman. Lacie attended 360 Life Church in Hartville, MO.
She is survived by her parents, her 2 sons, 6 brothers; Steven McCulloch, Jackie Willhite, Tony Willhite, Richie Willhite, Lonnie Harris, Danny Gaches, 2 sisters; Jammie Prewett and Gloria Stewart. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents; Virgil McCulloch, Pearl Sanders, Imogene Hukill and JW Hukill.

A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, yet to be announced

Thelma Monroe

Thelma “Joan” Monroe age 63 of Carl Junction, MO passed away on Saturday December 31, 2016 at the Freeman West Hospital Joplin, MO. She was born on February 17, 1953 in Lamar, Mo the daughter of Orville and Margaret (Fry) Humphrey. Joan married John Monroe on August 16, 1980 in Lamar, Mo. She was a Teacher's Aide and Bus Monitor for the Webb City Head Start.

She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband John of the home, a son Richard Monroe and wife Kayla of Blue Springs, Mo, daughter Stephanie, Monroe of Carl Junction, a brother Bud Humphrey and wife Donna of Miami, Ok, a sister Hazel Horman and husband Gene of Lamar, Mo, and four grandchildren: Abigail Monroe, Logan Monroe, Danielle, Monroe and Kayden Monroe-Abeyta. 

Private family graveside service will be held at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.

Betty Thomas

Betty Jo Thomas, age 75 of Lockwood, Mo., passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at National Health Care in Joplin, Mo.

Betty was born on July 22, 1941 in Cherokee County, Ks., the daughter of Toy Ray and Eula (Gideon) Scott. She has been a lifetime area resident, Betty spent her days loving and caring for her family as a homemaker. She was a member of Joplin Heights Baptist Church.

She married Larry Thomas in 1957, he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, Gary Thomas and wife Judy of Joplin, Darrell Thomas of Joplin; one daughter, Deborah Childers and husband Terry of Joplin; one sister, Leota McKinney of Baxter Springs, Ks.; one brother, Elroy Scott of Lake Fork, Tx.; seven grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Mount Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Mo.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.

Bobby Elliott

Bobby Roger Elliott, age 78 of Joplin, Mo. passed away Saturday December 31, 2016 at the Mercy Hospital Joplin. He was born on February 6, 1938 in Cato, Mo the son of William and Gracie (Ennis) Elliott. He was a veteran serving his country with the United States Army and the United States Air Force. He married Shirley Danley on November 10, 1960 in Littleton, Co. Bobby worked for Tri State Trucking Company as a truck driver. He was a member of the Shriners, Elks Lodge and was a 32nd Degree Mason. 

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Bill Elliott. Survivors include his wife Shirley of 56 years of the home, three sons: Bobby J. Elliott of Joplin, Mo, William Elliott of Joplin, MO and Ronnie Elliott and wife Brenda of Joplin, Mo; two daughters: Debra Turner and husband Kenneth of Pierce City, Mo and Bobbi Sue Elliott of Joplin, Mo, a sister Mickey Shaffer, seven grandchildren: Jack Turner, Michelle Matthews, Christian Cole, Bobby Elliott, Mike Elliott, Brett Dowling, and Stephanie Elliott, 15 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Wednesday January 4, 2016 at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary and Crematory. Burial will follow in the Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary. The family suggests contributions to the Shriners Children Hospital in care of the Mortuary.
