Becky Golden

Becky E. Golden, 65, Wyandotte, OK, passed away June 25, 2019 at her home in Wyandotte after an illness.

Becky Elaine Babcock was born April 12, 1954 in the County of San Diego, CA. Becky formerly worked for the Seneca R7 School as a custodian.

Becky E. Babcock married Dwayne Golden December 20, 1985 in Holiday, FL and he survives.








Additional survivors include one son, Mathew Pixley, Machias, NY; one daughter Dawn McFadgen, Lucama, NC; two brothers, Scott Babcock, Spring Hill, FL and Steven Babcock, Jacksonville, FL; Grandchildren Manquan Shoulars, Manshon Shoulars, Colin Pixley and Loger Pixley and a host of friends.

Becky was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Mildred Babcock; one sister Dawn Babcock and one brother Stuart Babcock.

The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, and no services are planed at this time.

Barbara Lane

Barbara Jean Lane, 77, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. Barbara was born November 24, 1941 in Steele, MO to Orvel and Padine “Adams” Pfeffer. She was a longtime resident of Carthage, a homemaker, worked at Casey’s General Store on Garrison and was a member of the Eastern Star Order.

Barbara is survived by one sister, Pat Carlstrom of Springfield, MO; one sister-in-law, Jena Pfeffer of Searcy, AR; two nieces, Ellen Carlstrom of Springfield, MO and Carrie Tranum of Searcy, AR; and one nephew, Jim Carlstrom of Springfield, MO.

Barbara was preceded in death by one brother, Don Pfeffer and one brother-in-law, Ed Carlstrom.









Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at Park Cemetery in Carthage.

Marty Barlet

Margaret “Marty” Ann Barlet, 81, passed away Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Joplin Gardens. Marty was born September 20, 1937 in Columbus, KS to Ralph Leland and Verna “Dopp” Stark. She was a long-time resident of Southwest Missouri. In her early years, while raising her family, Marty was active in the Southwest Missouri Dental Auxiliary. She co-wrote and produced dental health education programs for elementary age children in Jasper and Newton Counties. She was also active in Women's Aglow and led many Bible studies.

After raising her family, Marty went to college and in her late 40’s received her Bachelor’s Degree in psychology from Missouri Southern State College. During her under graduate work, she did extensive research on Bison at Prairie State Park. After attending Eastern Kentucky University, where she received her Master’s Degree in psychology, she practiced at Bluegrass Counseling Service in Lexington and Georgetown, KY, specializing in children and families. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family, grandchildren, nieces and nephews, which was her sole reason for retirement.








Marty is survived by one son, Lt. Colonel David P. Barlet (Melissa) of Monterey, CA; two daughters, Dr. Elizabeth Barlet Bauer (Don) of Joplin and Susan Barlet Flowers (Jeff) of Joplin; two brothers, Glenn Stark (Linda) of Riverton, KS and Gerald G. McNew, Jr. of Tucson, AZ; eight grandchildren, Alex Harwell, Christina Harwell, Jonathon D. Barlet (Ann Sabatini), Matthew C. Barlet Smaby (Nathan), Sarah Flowers, Jacob Flowers, Brit Bauer and Colby Hale; four great grandchildren, Hannah B. Wigh, Jonathan D. Barlet II, Genevieve M. Barlet and Matthew C. Barlet; one niece, Tracy Smart; two nephews, Jerry and Jim Stark; and one sister-in-law, Lynn McNew of Ft. Worth, TX.

Marty was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas C. McNew; one sister, Mary Beth Smart; one brother-in-law, Marvin Smart; and one nephew, Jeff Stark.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at Fullerton Cemetery south of Carthage.

Jake Lowe

Jacob “Jake” Charles Lowe, 96, passed away Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at St. Luke’s Health & Rehabilitation in Carthage. Jake was born September 5, 1922 in Kent, IN to Garnett Lowe, Sr. and Ester E. “Kloepher” Lowe. He served in the United States Navy in the North Atlantic and the South Pacific as a chief electrician from 1939 to 1946. He resided in Carthage since 1950 and had worked as an independent advertising agent for Kashfinder Incorporated. Jake enjoyed hiking, backpacking, canoing, hunting, fishing and traveling . . . anything outdoors. He served on the Carthage City Council, the Carthage School Board; he was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masons and Shriners.

Jake was united in marriage to Martha Jane Lewman on January 9, 1945 in Louisville, KY; she survives.








Jake is also survived by four daughters, Marilinda Porter of Granby, MO, Nancy McCarty of Ozark, MO, Tina Lowe of Springfield, MO and Sara Brown of Springfield, MO; one sister, Barbara Black of Jacksonville, FL; eleven grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Jake was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Memorial graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Park Cemetery in Carthage.

Harold Daniel

Harold W. Daniel, 87, of Stotts City, Missouri, passed away Friday morning, June 28, 2019 at Bentonview Park Heath and Rehabilitation in Monett, Missouri.

Harold entered this life on October 4, 1931 in Nottinghill, Missouri to the union of the late Murl and Willa (Loftis) Daniel. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School. After graduation he proudly serviced in the United States Army. On June 30, 1978 he was united in marriage to Pauline Jones, together they shared almost forty-one years. For several years he worked as a crane and heavy equipment operator for Burk Bridge Company and Ponders Construction. He was in the Union in Heavy equipment and Highway, as well as Building and Trade. He was a long time member of the LaRussell Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing as well as spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Delano R. Daniel and sister, June Stewart.








Harold is survived by his wife, Pauline; children, Randall Daniel of Stotts City, Kathy Goodman, of Mt. Vernon, Anita Beaver, (Louis), of Brookline, Denise Glover, (Mike), Monett and Tammy Moenkhoff, (Gary) of Stotts City; step sons, Billy Veith (Jody), Calvin Veith, (Nancy), all of Sarcoxie, and Jim Veith, (Chris), of Stotts City; nine grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; sister, Donna Mills, of Mt.Vernon; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Graveside funeral service with full military honors for Mr. Daniel are 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Hackney Cemetery, east of Carthage with Pastor Tom Armstrong officiating. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Rick Moenkhoff, Kyle Beaver, Gary Moenkhoff, Mike Glover, Louis Beaver and Glenn McDonald. Honorary pallbearers are Calvin Veith and Billy Veith. Gene Shirk

Alfred “Gene” Shirk, longtime Carterville resident, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2019, after several years of declining health.

Gene was born December 21, 1927, fifth of eight children born to Alfred Vernon Shirk and Ollie Samantha Kelly Shirk. His family lived east of Pineville, Missouri, along the Big Sugar Creek where he returned each summer to take his own family camping and fishing. 

After moving to Webb City, Missouri, he met Joy Marie Sidenstricker who became his school sweetheart and then his wife on January 17, 1945. They celebrated 65 years of marriage before her passing on April 9, 2010. 

Gene obtained his degree in electrical engineering and was employed for over 35 years by Hercules Explosives at their Carthage, Missouri, plant while also operating his own electrical business, Quality Electrical Service. At the time of his retirement, he was the electrical leadman and supervisor of the maintenance department. After his Hercules retirement, he served as the Carterville city electrical inspector for many years. Much of his electrical services and resources were donated to civic organizations and persons just needing some help. He was always there and willing to give a hand up.
Gene was an ever busy handyman and especially enjoyed woodworking, drafting and creating many pieces of furniture from walnut, oak and cherry that are treasured by his family. His workshop was also a haven for every neighborhood child needing a bicycle repair or just a place to get some instruction on how to “fix it”. 

A longtime member of Faith and New Hope Church at Carterville, he spent many days constructing and caring for the grounds and buildings where his faithful maintenance endures. 








In addition to his wife and parents, Gene was preceded in death by his son, Mike, in 2016; four sisters, Melba, Claudine, Betty and Ollene; his brother, Floyd “Buck” Shirk; and one son-in-law, John Hunley. 

He is survived by his daughters, Jeannine Shirk Landreth, Dianne Shirk Hunley and Phyllis Shirk Hombs and her husband, Jim, all of rural Joplin; two sisters, Wanda George of Joplin and Janelle Lewis of Ely, Nevada; 12 grandchildren, Shelly Landreth Terry, Eric Shirk, Buck Shirk and Morgan Shirk and their mother, Madylen Shirk, Allen Dorsey, Rachel Hunley Vanstory, Ramona Hunley, Christopher Hunley, Cindy Hunley, McGee Hombs Stroller, Cassie Hombs Mathes and Kelson Hombs; 22 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; and special forever-family members, Jerry Lewis, Judy Lewis Penner and Vida Martinez. 

Private graveside services will be held at Carterville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Hedge-Lewis-Goodwin Funeral Home, Webb City, Missouri.

Gary Morrison

Gary D. Morrison, age 79, Joplin, passed away on Thursday June 27, 2019, at his home surrounded by his family.

Gary was born on April 29, 1940 in West Plains, MO, the son of the late William M. Morrison and Ruby Viola (Bivins) Morrison. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1958. He attended SMS in Springfield, MO. He married Carol Ann Exline on December 27, 1959 in Gainesville, MO, together they raised four children.

Gary began his working career at Morrison Cement Company. He then worked for the Bank of Gainesville. While in Gainesville he started the Morrison Drilling Company. In 1966 he entered fulltime Ministry for the Church of Christ in Crossville, IL. In 1969 the family moved to Derby, KS to minister the Church there. In 1979 the family moved to Joplin, where he was the minister of Fourth & Forest Church of Christ. The Church later became Mount Hope Church of Christ. He left full time ministry and worked as the marketing director for Allgeier Martin & Associates, retiring in 2006. Following retirement, he became the co-owner of Show Me Satellite, Log Homes & Wood Furnace. He also, was the voice for many local T.V. commercials and he narrated the George Washington Carver tourist video. He was a panel member of the T.V. broadcast of “What Does The Bible Say”.

Gary was very active in his community. He served as an Elder of the Church for twenty-five years. He established the Joplin Police Department Chaplains Program. He served as chaplain for Freeman Hospital. He was a member and past president of Joplin Kiwanis Club, and was a proud member of the Missouri Archeology Society.








He was an accomplished musician. He played six instruments and sang in a quartet for many years. He enjoyed hunting, building his log home, but mostly spending time with his family. Words can not describe who Gary was as a person. He was a kind, compassionate and caring man. His Church family and community were so important to him He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather. He inspired others to be a better version of themselves. He will be greatly missed.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Treff O. Carpenter; a brother, Nolan B. Morrison; a sister, Nadine Morrison Ebrite; and his mother and father-in- law, Mattalene and Bill Exline.

Gary is survived by his wife of nearly sixty years, Carol Ann Morrison, Joplin; two sons, Eric Morrison, Searcy, AR, and Justin Morrison and wife, Lauren, Franklin, TN; two daughters, Christye Carpenter and husband Mark, Bennett, CO, and Beth Greenfield and husband Wayne, Webb City, MO; nine grandchildren, Shane, Kyle and Briann Therrien, Cliff, Alison, and Blaine Carpenter, and Alex and Farrar Morrison; three great-grandchildren, Liya, Madilyn and Ellie; and many other family members.

Karen Cooper

Karen Lucille Gunlock Cooper, 78, Joplin, entered into rest on June 27, 2019 at Webb City Health and Rehab, following an extended illness.

Karen was born August 3, 1940 in the community of Redings Mill, Missouri. She was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from Seneca High School and earned her Master’s Degree in education from Pittsburg State University. She taught in the Seneca and McDonald County school systems and, while teaching at Seneca, was instrumental in developing the sports programs for female students. She enjoyed coaching school sports, volleyball, track, softball, and jet skiing and boating. She was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church in Neosho. 

Karen and Ray E. Cooper were married on March 24, 1961 at Fairview Baptist Church in Joplin and he survives. 










Additional survivors include a son, Jason Cooper and wife, Maureen; a granddaughter, Sidney Cooper; three siblings, Gary Gunlock, Donna Smith, and Peggy Brock. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, and two sisters, Virginia Peavler and Barbara Sargent. 

Graveside services will be Wednesday, July 3, 2019 at 10 am at the Osborne Cemetery in Joplin; Pastor Buddy Funk will officiate. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6 to 7 pm at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. The casket will be closed at all times.

Sharon Slade

Sharon Ann Slade, 72, Neosho, MO passed into rest on June 27, 2019 at Webb City Health and Rehab. Sharon was born September 1, 1946 in Bentonville, AR to William and Mary Jane (Taylor) Ely.

She had worked as a chef at the Neosho Inn. She studied with the Jehovah’s Witnesses and attended meetings at the Kingdom Hall in Neosho. 

Sharon is survived by three children, Rick Leal of Ed Dorado Springs, MO, Bill Slade and wife, Barbara of Neosho, MO, and Josh Slade and wife, Julia of Plantation, FL; one brother, Terry Ely and wife, Marilynn of Glenpool, OK; two sisters, Caron Shelley and husband, Jim of Sapulpa, OK, and Dianne Ely of Webb City, MO; six grandchildren, Brittany Leal, Zachary Leal, Cameron Cotton, Marina Cotton, Kelsey Slade, and Ryan Slade; and three great grandchildren. 








She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Arlie Baldwin; and two brothers, William “Bill” Ely and Alan “Butch” Ely.

Graveside services will be held at 1pm Monday, July 1, 2019 at Neosho Memorial Park Cemetery, Neosho, MO.

Floyd Lamb

Floyd Lee Lamb, Jr., 62 years, 4 months, 9 days old, of Ava, Missouri, passed away on June 22, 2019 at Mercy Hospital ER in Springfield, MO with his family by his side.

Buddy was born February 13, 1957 in Norfolk County, Virginia to Floyd Lee Lamb, Sr. and Patricia (Frenger) Lamb.

Buddy was a United States Navy Veteran. Buddy worked as an Inspector with Finley Engineering Inc. out of Lamar, MO. He had just recently retired. Buddy worked in the telephone cable industry for over 35 years.

On Feb. 21, 1975 Floyd and Sheree Coogler were united in marriage at Forest Park, Georgia and to this union they were blessed with three children.

Buddy was a Christian and a member of the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112 in Ava. Buddy enjoyed motorcycling, golfing, and most of all spending time with his family.








He was preceded in death by his father, Floyd Sr.

“Buddy” is survived by his mother, Patricia Lamb, his wife, Sheree of the home, three children, Cassondra Lamb, Floyd Lee Lamb III, and Donny Lamb and wife, Misty, 11 grandchildren, 1 great grandson, one sister, Debbie Summers, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Buddy were Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO with burial following in the Murray Cemetery with Military Honors by the Troy Herd American Legion Post 112. Visitation was Wednesday prior to the service from 9:00 a.m. to service time in the funeral home. Officiating was Pastor James Hathcock. Memorials may be made to the family as a love offering. Michael Buck

On June 26, 2019, Michael Buck, Sr., 62 of Neosho, MO passed away peacefully with his family gathered around him. Michael was born November 25, 1956 in Newark, New Jersey to Albert and Dot (Beyer) Poggi. He moved to Phoenix, AZ in the 1970s and then to Neosho, MO in 1998. Michael worked for Farrell Construction in Neosho. He enjoyed football, golf, and mowing his yard.

Michael and Diane Johnson were married November 25, 1987 in Imperial Beach, California; she survives of the home.

 He is also survived by two children, Tiffany (Franklin) Fields of Neosho and Michael Edward Buck, Jr of the home; two brothers, Emil Poggi of Phoenix, AZ and Rudy Buck of Surprise, AZ; and four grandchildren, Anthony Buck, Myles Buck, Priscilla Fields and Santana Fields. 








Services will be held 10 am Tuesday, July 2, 2019 at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho with Mark Buzzard officiating. Interment will follow at Hazel Green Cemetery, Neosho. 

 The family will have a time of visitation on Monday evening, July 1 from 6 pm until 7 pm at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Larry Stewart

Lawrence “Larry” Stewart, age 76, of Webb City MO, passed away Wednesday June 26th at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, following an illness.

Larry was born on August 20, 1942 in Whittier, California to the late Billy Stewart and Alpha (Syble) Gunn. Larry was a Godly man. He was a member of the Fairview Christian Church in Carthage. In earlier years, he directed the children’s church program at Forest Park, Joplin. Larry found great joy teaching children the Word of God. Larry worked for Gulf States, which became Rock 10, in Joplin. There he was part of production management until his retirement.

Larry married Elizabeth Owen on October 3, 1998, she survives. They shared twenty wonderful years together. Together they had four beautiful children; Brannon Owen, and wife, Carrie, of Seneca, MO., Angela Sheldon, of Cushing, OK., Amy Larson, of Neck City, and Bethanie Lee Taylor, and husband, Brad, of Bloomington, IN., all survive.








Additional survivors include three grandchildren, Christopher Stewart, Noah Larson, and Esther Taylor; two nieces, Stephanie Davis and Christine Stubbert; great-nieces and nephews, Audrey, Amelia, Silas, Mary, Nehemiah, Ezra, and special baby Boaz. Larry is also survived by one brother, Lee Stewart, wife Regina, of Carthage; and one uncle, Walter Gunn, and wife Rebecca, of Marshfield, Mo.

Funeral services will be held Saturday June 29, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Chapel at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with burial to follow at Ozark Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends from 6-7pm Friday at the mortuary.

Seth Dallies

Seth Jamison Dallies, age 26, of Joplin passed away on Friday June 21, 2019, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.

Seth was born on July 15, 1992 in Youngstown, Ohio, the son of Jerry Dallies and Karen (Wyatt) Sims. He has been a resident of Joplin most of his life. He worked as a truck driver. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, and spending time with his friends and family.

He married Brittani Spencer and together they had two children. He dearly loved his children.








Seth is survived by his mother and step-father, Karen and Andrew Sims, Joplin; his father and step-mother, Jerry and Anita Dallies, Joplin; his wife Brittani Dallies, Joplin; his children Jordan and Alexis Dallies, Joplin; three brothers, Cody Dallies and girlfriend Malonna Garrett, Carl Jct., Mo., Jeremy Dallies and wife Jessica, Webb City, Mo., and Kyle Dallies and wife Angelica, Webb City, Mo.; three sisters, Courtney Ruport and husband Chris, Joplin, Brooklyn Lamp, Joplin, and Bridgette Sims and boyfriend Daren, Joplin; and maternal grandparents, Audrey and Seymour Wyatt, Jr., Leetonia, Ohio; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Monday July 1, 2019 at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The visitation will be 3-4 p.m. Sunday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Memorial contributions may be given to a fund for Seth’s children in care of the mortuary.

Chuck Smith

Charles ‘Chuck’ Spencer Smith, Jr., 52, Diamond, died on June 26, 2019 at his home, following a sudden illness. Charles was born April 13, 1967 in NAS Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Charles and Joy (Tatom) Smith. 

He was employed by Hampshire Pet Supply, working in maintenance. He loved to hunt and fish. 

Charles and Mary Wyrick were married on September 29, 1990 and she survives. 

Additional survivors include three children, Shaela Smith, Cody Smith and Danny Eads; his mother, Joy Tatom; twelve siblings: Jay Smith and wife, Debra; Jim Smith and wife, Jessica; Bill Smith; Bob Smith and wife, Melody; Harve Smith and wife, Cassandra; Scott Smith and wife, Rebecca; Karl Smith and wife, Holly; Frank Smith and wife, Betty; J. P. Smith; Brandy Harty; Samantha Johnson and Georganna Smith; grandson, Tate Ball and grandmother, Frances Tatom; Two aunts: Lesett Harrington and Camilla Serano; and numerous nieces and nephews. 








He is preceded in death by his father, a sister, Michelle Nobles and grandparents, W. L. and Liz Smith. 

The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 7:30 at the Clark Funeral Home, Neosho. Services will be Saturday, June 29th at 10 am at the Diamond First Baptist Church, Billy Jack Mitchell and Chris Wyrick will officiate. Chris Body

Christopher Paul Body, age 43 of Diamond, Missouri passed away Monday, June 24, 2019 after a sudden illness. Chris was born April 8, 1976 in Howell, Michigan to Jim and Rose (Caldwell) Body.

 He attended Diamond High School. Chris was employed at Body’s Truck Repair. He enjoyed racing RC cars and gaming in his spare time. He was briefly into dirt modified racing, and spent years playing in multiple rock bands such as Wicked Jester, Now and Again, and Absolute.








He is survived by his father, Jim Body and stepmother, Bobby Body; his brother, Jim Body II and wife, Jessica; his sister, Jennifer Body and fiancé, Will Battiest; one nephew, Jimmy Body III; three nieces, Skyler Douty, Payton Douty, and Samantha Body; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition, Chris is survived by his beloved pet and loyal companion, Jojo. 

 He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose Body.

Ray Coley

Ray Coley, 83, of Monett, MO, passed from this life to his eternal home in Heaven on Saturday, June 22, 2019, in Ft. Smith, AR.

Ray was born on July 2, 1935 in Altus, AR, son of the late William and Nellie (Little) Coley. Ray graduated from Wister High School, Wister, OK, with the Class of 1954. He then served his country honorably in the United States Air Force from 1954-58. After returning from his duties in Alaska, Ray furthered his education at Poteau Community College, Poteau, OK, obtaining his Associate of Arts Degree in 1960 and then earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Education Degree from Southeastern State College, Durant, OK, in 1962. Ray began teaching Sixth grade in Pierce City that same year. He later taught at Camdenton, Jasper and retired from Jane, MO. During his years in education, he also coached Boys Basketball. Following his retirement, Ray worked part-time as a Courier for First State Bank of Purdy.

Ray was a member of New Site Baptist Church in Monett and the Missouri State Teachers Association. He enjoyed painting, listening to gospel and country music, gardening, taking care of his yard, watching basketball, eating ice cream and spending time with his friends at McDonalds. Ray was an outgoing and entertaining man who never met a stranger.

On May 9, 1959, Ray Coley and Rene Newby were united in marriage in Wister, OK. To this union, they were blessed with two children. Together, they shared over fifty-seven years together until her passing in 2017.








Ray is survived by his son, Kevin Coley and his wife Kara, of Monett; his daughter, Sheila Buck and her husband David, of Verona; seven grandchildren, Miles Coley, Korry Melby, Jacob Witt, Joshua Boucher, Jantsen Boucher and wife Ashley, Jessica Buck and Kristen Buck; seven great-grandchildren, Tatum, Anthony, Noah, Kelby, Eli, Ryker and Zayden; his twin brother, Ralph Coley and wife Regina, of Readyville, TN; his sister, LaJean Kay, of Scottsdale, AZ; and his brother-in-law, Gary Newby and wife Georgetta, of Poteau, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and two brothers, Roger and Aaron Hugh Coley.

Funeral services for Mr. Coley will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at New Site Baptist Church with Reverend Aaron Weibel and Pastor Rocky Harris officiating. Interment and military honors will follow at Oakdale Cemetery, Monett. Visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at New Site Baptist Church. Don Stidham

Donald Norman Stidham, age 66, passed away at 8:17 p.m. on Monday, June 24, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital Joplin, MO. following a sudden illness.

Don was born November 7, 1952 in Joplin, MO. His parents were Johnny and Mary (Moser) Stidham. He had lived in rural Neosho, MO. for the past 25 years moving from Joplin, MO.

Don graduated from Galena High School with the Class of 1970. Don was employed as a truck driver for Fleming Foods for over 30 years. Don also owned and operated Stidham’s Custom Fencing and Baling Company.

Don was a member of the Racine Christian Church in Racine, MO. Don had also been a member of the Seneca Bent Arrow Bow Club and the Joplin Bow Club. Don enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming and always looked forward to his yearly trip to Canada.

Don was married to Donna Lee Stubblefield on December 16, 1978 in Joplin, MO. She survives.
Additional survivors include one son, Brandon Stidham and wife April of Neosho, MO.; one daughter, Kara (Stidham) North and husband Ryan of Riverton, KS.; 6 grandchildren, Abigail, Isabel, and Wyatt Stidham, Marlee, Jordan, and Raylan North; 4 brothers, Frank Stidham and wife Sherrie, Carl Junction, MO.; Leslie Stidham and wife Lisa of Peachtree, GA.; Harold “Scrap” Stidham and wife Debbie of Carl Junction, MO.; and Ted Stidham and wife Teresa of Galena, KS.; and many nieces and nephews.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his mother–in-law, Lily Stubblefield, and one brother, Johnny Stidham.

The family will receive friends ‪from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019‬ at Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS. Private graveside services will occur at Oak Hill Cemetery, Galena, KS. at a later date.

Dorothy Grotjohn

Dorothy Marie Grotjohn, age 88, Neosho, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at her home.

Dorothy was born May 27, 1931 in Joplin, daughter of the late Richard Jackson "Jack" Hankins and Pansy Louise Terrell. Pansy passed when she was young, and then Dorothy lived with her grandparents, George Washington Hankins and Mary Emaline Hankins. At age 14 Dorothy moved in with her father, Jack Hankins, and her step mother, Opal Hankins. She lived in Oklahoma and California before returning to Neosho in 1987. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, who loved being involved with all 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren.










In addition to her first husband, Richard Robert Brotherton, who died in 1952, her mother, father, step mother, and grandparents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Brotherton, a sister, Virginia Wilson, grandson, Chadwick Hester, and a son-in-law, Greg Kivett.

Survivors include her husband of 66 years, Virgil Grotjohn of Neosho; children, Sarah Malone (Michael) of Bailey, Colorado, Vicki Hester (Jack) of Westminster, Colorado, Linda Kivett of Neosho, Virgie Popejoy (Michael) of Arvada, Colorado, Virgil Garth Grotjohn (Brenda) of Seneca, Missouri, and Richard Grotjohn (Donna) of Neosho; 24 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 11 great-great-grandchildren; brother, Lauren Hankins; several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 3, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. in New Salem Cemetery.

Glenn Alderman

Glenn Caroll Alderman, age 86, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Alderman, son of the late Irwin and Mable (Leach) Alderman, was born on June 28, 1932 in Joplin.

He was a graduate of Joplin High School Class of 1950. After graduation, Glenn left Joplin and moved to Chicago for work. On a summer vacation trip, he returned to the area and that is when he met Freda Morris and he never returned to Chicago. 

In December of 1955 he and Freda were united in marriage, she survives. Glenn was previously employed as a custodian for Fleming Foods and Freeman Hospital. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and being a grandpa. 








Survivors include his wife, Freda Alderman, of Joplin; four sons, Richard Alderman, and his wife, Diane, of Tulsa, Bert Alderman, of Joplin, Glenn E. Alderman, and his wife, Cindy, of Joplin, and Timothy Alderman, of Joplin; nine grandchildren, Nikki, Tiffany, Kristopher, Matthew, Samuel, Timothy, and Whitney, Jason and Joe; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Fricks, of Wichita; and one sister-in-law, Donna Alderman, of Portland, Or. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at the Osborne Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26th at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Generations Freewill Baptist Church and entrusted to the mortuary.

Mildred Jones

Mildred Grace Jones, age 90 of Joplin, Mo., passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at her home following an illness.

Mildred was born on March 29, 1929 in Joplin, the daughter of Walter and Mary (Robinson) Jones. She has been a lifetime area resident. Mildred worked for many years as a clothing manufacturer for Big Smith and Miller Manufacturing before retiring in 1992. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Frank and Harold Jones, two sisters, Dorthy Jones and Bessie Marie Baldwin, her niece, Lorretta Capps, and her nephew, Gary Baldwin.








Survivors include her great-nieces and nephews, Menila Prince, Rebecca Capps, both of Joplin, Carrie Shelton and her significant other Mark Hessler of Oak Harbor, Wa., Tracy Capps of Tacoma, Wa., Chuck Capps and wife Vera of Erzhausen, Germany, Seth Baldwin of Springfield, Mo., Kristopher and Jonathan Baldwin, both of Arkansas, and many great-great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 29, 2019 at Osborne Memorial Cemetery.

Max Chester

Max Eugene Chester, of rural Neosho, MO, passed into everlasting life on June 24, 2019, following a long illness.

Max was born on October 21, 1932 to Arthur “Skinny” and Sarah “Sadie” ( Rinehart) Chester.

He was a 1950 graduate of Seneca High School. In 1951 he was employed at the Milnot Milk Company where he retired after working for over 43½ years. Max was a lifetime member of the Swars Prairie Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years and on the cemetery board.

Max is survived by his wife of 67 years, Edith Mae Golden who he married on March 8,1952. 








In addition he is survived by three daughters Tina and husband Denny Wilson of Neosho, Flora Stansberry and Tonya Chester of Seneca. Grandchildren are Aaron Wilson, Ethan Wilson and wife Kim, Heath Ellington, Lewis Ellington and wife Marlena, Keith Wilson and wife Holly, Karen Bruce and husband Jesse, and Tim Stansberry and wife Joelle Hope; 17 great-grandchildren; Aurora Ellington, Trace Wilson, Jaxon Ellington, Kinley Wilson, Hunter Ellington, Parker Wilson, Beau Ellington, Neelah Wilson, Aiden Wilson, Hailey Ellington, Mason Bruce, Colin Stansberry, Liam Ellington, Alice Stansberry, Eli Ellington, Aria Ellington, and Taylor Nelson and husband Jarrod; two great-great-grandsons Christian and Kade Nelson; other survivors include a sister, Virginia Tice of Neosho and four brothers, Marvin Chester and wife Patsy, Donald Chester and wife Barbara, Jerry Chester, and Darrell Chester all of Seneca, MO; and many other relatives and friends.

Max enjoyed many activities; family vacations, farming, sports, square dancing, and Volunteer Christian Church Builders. He was known as a man who never met a stranger. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Max was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vernon Rinehart and Kenneth Chester and one sister Betty East. 

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, June 26, 2019 at the Swars Prairie Baptist Church south of Seneca on DD Highway.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, June 27, 2019 at the Swars Prairie Baptist Church with Gerald Burnside and Roger Chester officiating. Burial will be in the Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery with Grandsons; Aaron Wilson, Ethan Wilson, Keith Wilson, Heath Ellington, Lewis Ellington and Tim Standsberry serving as pallbearers.

Rosa Taylor

Rosa Lee Taylor, 89 of Anderson, Missouri passed away on Saturday June 22, 2019 at the Freeman Neosho Hospital in Neosho, Missouri.

Rosa Lee was born on February 20, 1930 in Thayer, Kansas to the late Frances Leroy and Gertie Lula (Keller) Plotner. She married Donnall R. Taylor on July 24, 1947 in Anderson, Missouri. In her early years she hauled milk for Milnot; was a cook at the Wishing Well under the bluff in Lanagan; was an upholster, shoe cobbler and worked for American Family Homes as an inspector retiring in 2000. Rosa was a member of the Christian Church in Anderson, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donnall Taylor on November 10, 1992; a son, Robert Leroy Taylor; brother, Everett; sisters, Edna, Martha Nadeen, Ruth and Shirley (Joan).








Rosa Lee is survived by her children, Larry (Marilyn) Taylor, Richard Taylor, Donna (Larry) Cook, Kaydena Sprague and Connie Newburn all of Anderson, Missouri; sisters, , Kay Hartje of Springfield, Missouri, Mona Rae Rice of Neosho, Missouri; grandchildren, Larry Cook Jr., Steven Cook, Brandon Taylor, Justin Taylor, Richard Taylor II, Ethan Taylor, Ronald Smith, Caleb Newburn, Kathy Cook, Sheila Evans, Tamara Taylor, Melissa Dobbs, Bobbi Turner; 21 great grandchildren; six great great grandchildren; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Rosa Lee.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 26, 2019 at the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home. Pastor Cecil Hall will officiate. Judy Johnston

Judith Ann Johnston, age 79, of Alpine, NY and formerly from Lamar, MO, passed away June 16, 2019, at her home.

Judy was born May 26, 1940 in Eldorado, KS to Roger Phil and Blanche Alleen (Morgan) Mollohan. Judy was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years at the Nevada State Hospital with mentally and developmentally disabled individuals. She later served as a Parish Nurse for the Lamar United Methodist Church. On October 21, 1961, Judith married William P. Johnston in Denver CO. She was a member of Barton County Arts Council, Red Hats Society, and Honorary Member of Lamar Elks Club. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church before moving to be with her daughter, where her membership was at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ithaca, NY.

Judy loved the outdoors, dancing and her Church families. She was passionate about providing support for individuals in need. After retiring she continued to work part-time with disabled individuals and found great pleasure in being a friend and help mate. She was funny and big hearted. Her last several years were marked by progressive dementia yet she remained remarkably aware of her situation. Her grace, tolerance and tenacity throughout touched her many Aides and all who crossed her path.








Judy is survived by a daughter, Roxanna Johnston of Alpine, NY

Preceding Judy in death were her parents, siblings Tom Mollohan and Marilyn Hemminger, husband William and sons, Dwayne and Rex.

Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Lamar United Methodist Church, in Wesley Hall using the 9th Street Entrance.  There will be a private family burial at Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, MO.

Lois Schafer

Lois A. Schafer, 80, of Neosho, MO died June 23, 2019. Lois was born July 28, 1938 in Detroit, MI to Daniel S. and Emma S. (French) Griesel. She was born in Detroit, MI, grew up in Melvindale, MI, and graduated from Melvindale High School.

 Lois achieved a Master’s Degree and worked as a Clinical Psychologist and Counselor. She was a member of The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Denver, CO for over 20 years. Lois enjoyed dance, music, theater, art, and travel. 








She is survived by four children, Daniel R. Schafer and wife, Shannon of Milan, MI, Curtis M. Schafer and wife, Karen of Canton, MI, Kimberly Gritten and husband, Al of Neosho, MO, and Wendy T. Schafer of Ann Arbor, MI; four grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Lois was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert W. Schafer; her second husband, John L. “Jack” Pease; and one sister, Faye Reed.

Her family believes that Lois would ask that those who wish to honor her memory should do so by making a donation to a charity of their choosing, or by doing a good deed.

A memorial visitation will be held at Medicalodges Neosho in the Parlor from 1:00 pm until 3:00 pm, come and go, on Wednesday, June 26, 2019. A Celebration of Life Service will be held in Denver, CO, at a place and date to be determined.

Randy Layne

Randall “Randy” Stephen Layne, age 67, Webb City, passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden heart attack.

Randy was born December 12, 1951 in Joplin, son of the late Robert Andrew “Andy” Layne and Jean Frances Maeder Layne. He grew up in Joplin, and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1969. He went through IBEW Electrical Apprentice School, and was a member of the Local #95 as a journeyman electrician. He worked for years with Layne Electric and Fagan Electric. Randy, more than anything, loved his family; and the St. Louis Cardinals. His wife and daughters were the light of his entire life. We will miss him forever.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife’s parents, to whom he was very close, Robert & Betty Carnes.








Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Cindy M. Carnes-Layne; daughters Robin Layne of Laguna Niguel, California, and Macy Layne (and Jordon Vulgamore) of Kansas City, Missouri; grandchildren, Andy and Colin Cronin; brother Mark Layne and wife Cheryl, sister, Jane Layne Karns and husband Jamie, brother David Layne and wife Lori; all of Joplin; brother-in-law Kendall Carnes of Joplin; nieces and nephews, Anna Brock, Adam Layne, Austin Karns, Alex Karns, Lauren Layne, Spencer Layne, Payton Layne, Matt Hoagland, Sara Shelton, and many aunts, cousins, great nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday June 27, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Carterville Christian Church with Pastor Robin Sigars officiating.

Ray Bryant

Raymond Luther ‘Ray’ Bryant, Jr., age 68, Joplin, passed away at 2:45 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Mercy Hospital.

Ray was born January 10, 1951 in Webb City, MO to the late Raymond Luther Bryant and Monoclar Kimerer Bryant and lived in Joplin all of his life.

Ray retired after twenty-two years at F.A.G. Bearing as a machinist. In his spare time Ray, loved to run and mow his yard. He watched every cardinal baseball game that he could and enjoyed the company of his family. He will be missed by all who knew him.

He married Kathleen Chester on November 6, 1987 in Joplin. She survives at the home.








Additional survivors include a son, Shad Bryant; a daughter, Traavissa Mason and husband, Dennie; brother, Mikel Bryant; grandchildren, Klaire Bryant, Allyson Bryant, Devon Charlton, Karlin Bryant, Mikel Bryant, Mathieu Currier, Gypsy Merris, Dennie Mason, Samantha Mason; and twelve great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Donald Slaughter

Donald Lee Slaughter, 77, Neosho, MO went to be with his Lord and Savior, and his wife, Dena, on June 23, 2019. Donald was born in Newton County, Missouri on September 22, 1941 to Albert and Minnie (Mead) Slaughter.

He was a graduate of Seneca High School and spent most of his life in the Newton County area. Donald was a veteran of the US Army and had worked as a mechanic in an automotive dealership. He was a Christian and a Baptist. 

Donald married Dena Hobbs on September 21, 1970; she preceded him in death on October 23, 2012. 








He is survived by five children, Sherry Denny and husband, Gary of Goodman, MO, Vernon Cummings and wife, Darla of Anderson, MO, Darren Slaughter and wife, Virginia of Neosho, MO, Mark Slaughter of Oklahoma City, OK, and Adam Slaughter and wife, Eve of Kansas City, MO; two brothers, Ed Slaughter and wife, Sandra of Seneca, MO and Jerry Dale Slaughter and wife, Pippa of Goodman, MO; one sister, Bonnie Cox and husband, Don of Neosho, MO; numerous grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; and his special buddy, his dachshund, Slinkey. 

Donald was preceded in death by two sons, Dwayne Cummings and Charles Cummings; two brothers, Ralph Slaughter and Jack Slaughter; and one infant sister, Alberta Slaughter.

Services will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, June 28, 2019 at Clark Chapel of Memories, Neosho, MO. Reverend Alan Brock will officiate. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery, Neosho, MO. A time of visitation will begin at 12 noon prior to Friday’s services at Clark Funeral Home, Neosho.

Grover Skelton

Grover Leon Skelton, 78, Granby, MO entered into rest on June 22, 2019. Grover was born July 11, 1940 in Poplar Bluff, MO to Roy and Zola (Lambert) Skelton.

Grover was a retired US Army veteran; his service included Vietnam. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf. 








Grover is survived by two children, Bennie Skelton of Neosho, MO and Andrea Miller of Tucson, AZ; one brother, Carlos; three sisters, Jackie, Beverly, and Jeanie; four grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Kenny; and his life partner, Jeanette Walton.

Pat Myers

Wilma Patricia 'Pat' Myers, age 77, Joplin, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Spring River Christian Village after an illness.

Pat was born May 12, 1942 in Joplin to the late Sam Alexander and Ann Ebbs Alexander and had lived Joplin the past several years, moving from Greenfield, Missouri.

She worked as the head cook at the Dade County Nursing Home in Greenfield for many years. Pat had also worked at Coleman's in Wichita for several years. She was a member of T.O.P.S. in Greenfield and enjoyed working in her yard and travel. Pat will be missed by all who knew her.








She is survived by a son, James Myers and his wife, Jessica; two sisters, Judy Brillhart, Hutchison, Kansas, Phyllis Simon, Joplin; two brothers, John Alexander, Joplin, Donnie Alexander, Asbury; grandchildren, John Ruth, Shantel Myers, Katie Myers, James Crab, Tyler McEin, Jayme Myers, Makayla Myers, Abbygale Myers; great grandchildren, Rebecca Draves, Iris Draves, Lilliana James, Annabell Ruth; and many other extended family members.

Graveside services are planned for Thursday at 3:00 p.m. at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Greenfield, Missouri.

Patricia Filarski

Patricia A. Filarski age 82 of Carterville, Missouri passed away at Mercy Hospital in Joplin on Sunday, June 23, 2019. She was born in Neosho, Missouri to Jess Hudson and Margaret (Bushner) Hudson on December 12, 1936.

Patricia was an LPN for her working years at St. John's Hospital in Joplin, and a member of the Cornerstone Church in Carterville. 

 She is survived by her daughter, Vicki Hailey of Joplin; a son, Stephen Hailey and his wife Cathy of Tomball, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren; sister, Athena Hart of Georgia; and 2 brothers, Donald Hudson of Joplin and Charles Hudson of Missouri. 








Patricia’s wishes were to be cremated and the family will have a memorial service on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 5:00 PM at the Cornerstone Rival Center in Carterville with Pastor Morris Cleveland officiating.

Steve Houk, age 65, passed away on Saturday June 22, 2019, at his home following a courageous battle with Myotonic Muscular Dystrophy. Steve was born on November 25, 1953 in USAH Ft. Crowder Neosho, Mo., the son of Gene and Donna (Ackerman) Houk.

Steve grew up in the Tipton Ford Area and graduated from Neosho High School in 1971. During high school he became a long-distance runner. Upon graduation he was awarded a full track scholarship to the University of Arkansas. He was an accomplished cross-country runner for four years while at the University, becoming one of coach McDonnell’s favorites. He graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education and an Associate’s Degree of Science in Surveying.

Steve married Pam Robertson on March 16, 1987. With this marriage he was blessed with a beautiful ten-year-old daughter. They made their home on a farm north of Neosho where they loved to raise horses, garden and enjoy the peace that country life provided. He was active in Newton County 4-H, and watching numerous sports activities that his daughter and grandchildren were involved in. Steve was also an avid griller and would grill steaks in the rain or snow. He was a loyal Arkansas Razorbacks “Hogs” fan. He loved reading, horseback riding, snow and water skiing and scuba diving.

He worked twenty years for Allgeier Martin & Associates as a land surveyor. He was licensed in four states. He finished his career at the Newton County Assessor’s office, retiring in 2015.

Steve was a Christian and a member of Central Christian Center. He served several years as a Deacon. He had a kind and gentle spirit, and championed fairness. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be greatly missed.








He leaves behind his wife, Pam Houk, Joplin; daughter, Amanda Eggleston and husband Brandon, Joplin; three grandchildren, Allie, Brody, and Kennedy Eggleston; mother, Donna Houk, Neosho; brother, Shaun Houk and wife Charlie, Neosho.; sister, Shelly Langland and husband Warren, Neosho; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Bruce Woodard, Joplin; and many nieces and nephews.

Ralph SIll

Ralph D. Sill, age 86, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday June 23, 2019, at Freeman hospital, following an illness.

Ralph was born on October 18, 1932 in Pittsburg, Ks., the son of the late Chester and Opal (Jones) Sill. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War. He worked as an engineer for Vickers until 1972. He then owned and operated Hydraulic Specialties until retiring in 2010. He enjoyed singing and was a member of the Tri-State Barber Shop Chorus for over fifty years.

He married Linda Millard on May 7, 1955 in Joplin. She preceded him in death in October 2012. He was also preceded in death by four brothers, Perry, Bill, Merle, and Paul Sill; and two sisters, Phyllis Butler and Becky Whitney, a granddaughter, Michelle Gregory.








Ralph is survived by one son, Curt Sill and wife Paula, Joplin; one daughter, Angela Chaney and husband Bill, Neosho; three grandchildren, Kyle, Andrea, and Samantha; and three great-grandchildren, Cristal, Annastaisia, and Victoria.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. The family will receive friends 1-2 p.m. Thursday, prior to the service. Ralph will be cremated after the services and his ashes will be buried at Stone Cemetery near Diamond, Mo.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.

Floyd Banwart

Floyd Wilson Banwart, 96, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019. He was born March 26, 1923 in Barton County to Eli and Lizzie (Braker) Banwart.

Floyd went to school through tenth grade in Iantha, MO and then through twelfth grade in Mindenmines, MO. He served in the US Army, in the Philippines, during WWII and didn’t have enough points to come home so went to serve in Korea until he could come home. 

Floyd married Doris Goodman April 4, 1948 and started farming. In the winter, Floyd and his brother Ray would work as carpenters building barns and sheds. Doris died May 11, 1984. 

 Floyd then married Marie (Lanz) Simons on June 1, 1985. He retired from farming in 1989 and started a woodwork shop that he worked until he was 93 years old. There he made beautiful pieces of furniture. One year he made 42 Adirondack chairs due to their popularity. Floyd had quadruple bypass surgery in 1995 and had rehab three times a week for the next 23 years. In 2018 Floyd could no longer stay in his home so he moved to Maple Senior Living where he made several friends. 






 

Floyd is survived by two daughters, Judy Miller (Doyle) of Iantha, MO and Patti Todd (Greg) of Lamar, MO and by two stepchildren, Wally Simons (Pam) of Girard, KS and Ann Landrum (Keith) of Neosho, MO; 8 grandchildren and many great and great-great grandchildren and his sister Mae Chapman of Kansas City, MO. Floyd is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Doris, his second wife Marie, and his brother Ray Banwart.

Memorial gifts may be given to Iantha Cemetry or the Iantha Methodist Church. Checks written to the church can be made out the The Iantha Community Center.

Maria Arthur

Maria Elaina Arthur, 64, Lamar, MO passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. Maria was born April 10, 1955 in Wichita, KS to Donald F. and Angelina Marie (Nunez) Herman. She was married to Greg Arthur and he preceded her in death.

Maria was raised in Nevada and also in Wenatchee, WA where she attended high school. Most of her life she worked with her husband Greg as secretary and bookkeeper in the family tax preparation business in Nevada. Maria attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church for many years. She enjoyed crocheting, and being with her family, especially her granddaughters.








She is survived by one son, John Crowl and his wife Cassie, Lamar, MO; three granddaughters, Patricia LaFever, Lamar, MO, Abbi Brown and her husband Bobby, Branson, MO, Thelma Crowl, of the home in Lamar, MO; two great-grandchildren, Luthen, and Rebecca; one brother, Frank Herman, Nevada; four sisters, Virginia Cooper, Nevada, Carla Day and her husband Scott, Liberal, MO, Janet Bainard, Liberal, MO and Donna Warren and her husband Rick, Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Greg.

Bonnie Day

Bonnie Belle Day of Miami, OK passed from this life Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Integris Miami Hospital in Miami, OK. She was 95.

Bonnie was born February 4, 1924 in Boatman, OK to Monroe and Theodora (Walker) Grigg. She had lived in Miami for the past 45 years moving from Pryor, OK. Bonnie graduated from Salina High School in Salina, OK where she was basketball player. She owned and operated Jeannie’s Fashions in Miami, OK for 52 Years. She attended First Baptist Church in Miami, OK. She was an antique collector and loved gardening.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her husband Howard Day, her parents, 3 brothers, Bert Grigg, Earl Grigg and Ray Grigg and 4 sisters, Essie Meador, Artie Thornton, Virgie Craig and Ora Bewley.








Survivors include her son, Jerry Day and wife Janet of Loma Linda, MO, her daughter, Jeannie Mackey of Miami, OK, 1 sister Retta Crawford of Pryor, OK, 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 27, 2019 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Miami, OK. Rev. Rick Longcrier will officiate. Interment will be in Graham Cemetery in Pryor, OK. Grandsons, Brent Newcomb, Tommy Newcomb, Jacob Kay, Justin Kay and Joshua Day will serve as pallbearers.
