Glenn Caroll Alderman, age 86, of Joplin, passed away on Monday, June 24, 2019 at his home surrounded by family. Mr. Alderman, son of the late Irwin and Mable (Leach) Alderman, was born on June 28, 1932 in Joplin.
He was a graduate of Joplin High School Class of 1950. After graduation, Glenn left Joplin and moved to Chicago for work. On a summer vacation trip, he returned to the area and that is when he met Freda Morris and he never returned to Chicago.
In December of 1955 he and Freda were united in marriage, she survives. Glenn was previously employed as a custodian for Fleming Foods and Freeman Hospital. He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing and being a grandpa.
Survivors include his wife, Freda Alderman, of Joplin; four sons, Richard Alderman, and his wife, Diane, of Tulsa, Bert Alderman, of Joplin, Glenn E. Alderman, and his wife, Cindy, of Joplin, and Timothy Alderman, of Joplin; nine grandchildren, Nikki, Tiffany, Kristopher, Matthew, Samuel, Timothy, and Whitney, Jason and Joe; 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Sandra Fricks, of Wichita; and one sister-in-law, Donna Alderman, of Portland, Or. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at 10:00 am at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin with burial to follow at the Osborne Cemetery in Joplin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 26th at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Generations Freewill Baptist Church and entrusted to the mortuary.
