Mary Ruth Garringer

Mary Ruth Garringer of Elm Springs, Arkansas, formerly of Monett, Missouri, passed from this life to her Heavenly home on Monday, June 17, 2019.

Mary Ruth Thomas was born on August 19, 1939 in Monett, the daughter of Earl Henley and Maxine Bland Thomas. She attended Monett Schools. On June 24, 1956 she married James Richard Garringer. They were happily married until his death in July of 2015. Together they had two daughters.

Mary Ruth spent many years working for the Jumping Jack Shoe Co. in Monett in various positions with the company. Later in life she spent time working for First Baptist Church. In their early years of marriage her husband was a little league baseball coach and she happily supported him by attending the practices and cheering his team on at games.

Mary was always a very good cook and loved cooking for the family, especially on Sundays and holidays. She loved being with all of her family and was able to cheer on a great-granddaughter at softball games and great-grandson at T-ball games.








Mary is survived by her daughters, Debbie Schoon and husband Ray of Monett and Kathy Wormington of Elm Springs, Arkansas; one sister, Roberta Lea of Joplin; three grandsons, Justin Schoon of Monett and Trish of Baxter Springs, KS, Sheldon Wormington and Amanda Townsend of Fort Worth, Tx, Clayton Wormington and his wife Jennifer of Elm Springs, AR; four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Emily Schoon of Baxter Springs and Connor and Brooklyn Wormington of Elm Springs; one aunt, Ruth McMillen of Denver, CO; three very special cousins, David Thomas and George Earl Thomas and Emma Jo Walker and her husband Ron; two brothers-in-law, Vernal Caldwell of Monett and Junior Garringer of Lamar, MO; two sisters-in-law, Betty Nell Foraker of Nixa, MO and Louise Young and her husband Carol of Marionville, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband James and a sister Barbara Caldwell.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 22, 2019 at the I.O.O.F.Cemetery, Monett. Reverend Robert Bradow will be officiating. Memorial contributions made be to Washington Regional Willard Walker Hospice Home in Fayetteville, AR in her honor. Arrangements have been entrusted to Buchanan Funeral Home, 301 Euclid Ave, Monett, MO.
