Herman Keyser

Herman L Keyser Jr, age 92 passed away at his home following an illness.

Mr Keyser was born January 2, 1927 in Acworth, Texas. His parents were Herman L and Daisy (Yoakum) Keyser.

Junior first moved to Galena from Texas at the age of 10. In 1969, he moved to New York and in 1972 he was transferred to Cincinnati, OH. He returned to Galena upon his retirement in 1987. He last worked as a Plant superintendent at a fertilizer warehouse in Cincinnati.

He was a veteran of the U S Army, stationed at the end of World War II in Korea. He was a member of First Christian Church, Galena, KS. He enjoyed gardening, woodworking, painting and genealogy.








Herman married the love of his life Mary Ellen Chase on December 11, 1948 in Bentonville, AR. She survives after 70 years of marriage.

Additional survivors include three sons, Mike Keyser, Galena, Mark Keyser, Galena, and Mitchell (Donna) Keyser, Cincinnati, OH; one daughter, Jona Newman, Galena; one brother, Gerald Dean Keyser, Galena; two sisters, Joyce Herren, Joplin, MO and Mary Mooney, Joplin, MO: 10 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Stephen Keyser.

Herman was entrusted to Derfelt Funeral Home, Galena, KS for cremation
