Shirley Bruffett

Shirley J. Bruffett, 80, passed away Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Carthage Health & Rehabilitation. Shirley was born February 7, 1939 in Carthage to Melvin and Geneva “Flesher” Porter.

Shirley was a homemaker, a loving wife of a dairy farmer and also worked as a bookkeeper. She was a longtime member of Center Point Christian Church. Prior to that, she attended the Grand Avenue Church of God, where she was a youth leader and a member of their Women’s Missionary Society. Her great loves, besides her church and her family, were quilting with the ladies at Jasper Methodist Church, cooking and reading. Shirley was an enthusiastic do-it-yourself carpenter and a people-person, who loved everyone she met.

Shirley was united in marriage to Paul A. Bruffett on August 31, 1957 in Jasper; he survives.








Shirley is also survived by one son, Jeff Bruffett (Mary) of Stockton, MO; one daughter, Jana Lown (Wayne) of Jasper, MO; one brother, Vic Porter of Hollister, MO; one sister, Clara Harper of Jasper,MO; two grandchildren, Kristin Fritchman (Nick) of Olatha, KS and Dustin Bruffett (Dana) of Spokane, WA; two great grandchildren, Emily and Sarah Fritchman.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Lonnie Porter.

Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 22, 2019 at Ulmer Funeral Home. Funeral services will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be at Paradise Cemetery near Jasper.
