Dorothy (Deane) Smith, 75, Joplin, MO passed into eternal rest June 11, 2019 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO.
Dorothy Deane was born September 28, 1943 in San Francisco, CA the daughter of William and Lydia Elizabeth (Schlitzkus) Deane. Dorothy formerly worked as a Lab Technician for Medtronic in Anaheim, CA. Dorothy loved sewing, arts and crafts. She loved Halloween because she got to hand out candy and seeing all the costumes. She loved cats and her pet turtle of 40 years, Crosser.
Dorothy Deane married Walter Smith III December 8, 1962 in Reno, NV and he preceded her in death January 3, 2014. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one daughter Marsha Smith and one sister Marjorie Rogers.
Survivors include one son, Walter Smith IV, Sonoma, CA; grandchildren, Rachel Lynn Smith and Walter Smith V both of Sonoma, CA; great-grandchild Lilliana Kylie Smith, Sonoma, CA; her close friends; Lola Harrison, Carthage, MO, Ed & Lois Hoover, Seneca, MO and John & Marge Tescher, Joplin, MO and a host of extended relatives.
The body has been taken for cremation under the direction of Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home, Seneca, MO. The cremains will be interred in GAR Cemetery in Miami, OK next to her husband Walter Smith III and daughter Marsha Smith. Private memorial service will be held at a later date.
