Dessie Showen, 80, of Commerce, OK went to be with the Lord on Saturday June 8th, 2019 at Eastwood Manor in Commerce, OK.
Dessie was born October 22nd, 1938 to Joe David and Leota Alabama (Sweaney) Nelson in Carthage, MO.
She married Danny Eugene Showen April 3rd, 1962 in Springfield, MO and he preceded her in passing.
Dessie was a member of Faith Tabernacle church in Commerce, OK. She spent most of her life as an LPN and a minister.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Leota Nelson, one brother, David Nelson and a sister, Violet Jo Triplett.
Dessie is survived by her brother Jerry and wife Judy Brown of Duquesne, MO, her children, Ada and husband Douglas Binford of Colleyville, TX, Danny and wife Sandy Showen of Miami, OK, Peter and wife Wanda Showen, of Springfield, MO, Willie and wife Piper Showen of Raymore, MO, Amanda Showen Moss of Miami, OK, and Regina Toten of Wichita, KS. She is also survived by 13 grandchidren and 10 great grandchildren.
Survices will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at Faith Tabernacle church in Commerce, OK with Pastor Danny Showen and Rev. Benjamin Moyers officiating. Interment will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, June 11th, 2019 at I.O.O.F. cemetery in Golden City, MO. The family will receive family and friends, Monday June 10th, 2019 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Commerce, OK.
Pallbearers: Willie Showen, Jon Roberts, Daniel Miller, Christopher Barfell, Peter Showen, and Jason Day.
Honorary Pallbearers: Josh Roberts and Dessie D Hoxie.
