Judy Johnston

(From Daniel Funeral Home)

Judith Ann Johnston, age 79, of Alpine, NY and formerly from Lamar, MO, passed away June 16, 2019, at her home.

Judy was born May 26, 1940 in Eldorado, KS to Roger Phil and Blanche Alleen (Morgan) Mollohan. Judy was a Licensed Practical Nurse and worked many years at the Nevada State Hospital with mentally and developmentally disabled individuals. She later served as a Parish Nurse for the Lamar United Methodist Church. On October 21, 1961, Judith married William P. Johnston in Denver CO. She was a member of Barton County Arts Council, Red Hats Society, and Honorary Member of Lamar Elks Club. She was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church before moving to be with her daughter, where her membership was at St. Paul's United Methodist Church in Ithaca, NY.

Judy loved the outdoors, dancing and her Church families. She was passionate about providing support for individuals in need. After retiring she continued to work part-time with disabled individuals and found great pleasure in being a friend and help mate. She was funny and big hearted. Her last several years were marked by progressive dementia yet she remained remarkably aware of her situation. Her grace, tolerance and tenacity throughout touched her many Aides and all who crossed her path.

Judy is survived by a daughter, Roxanna Johnston of Alpine, NY

Preceding Judy in death were her parents, siblings Tom Mollohan and Marilyn Hemminger, husband William and sons, Dwayne and Rex.

Service will be 11:00 am, Saturday, July 13, 2019, at Lamar United Methodist Church, in Wesley Hall using the 9th Street Entrance.  There will be a private family burial at Nashville Cemetery, Nashville, MO.
