Louretta Corum

Louretta Faye Corum, 92, of Sarcoxie, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 15, 2019 at St. Luke’s Nursing Center in Carthage, Missouri.

Louretta entered this life on March 11, 1927 in Miller, Missouri, to the union of the late Charles and Nellie (Hart) Reynolds. She attended LaRusell and Sarcoxie Schools. Louretta lived most of her life in the LaRussell and Sarcoxie area.

On February 15, 1946 she was united in marriage to Boyd E. “Boz” Corum, together they shared forty-three years until his passing on May 20, 1989. She was a member of LaRussell Baptist Church, as well as attending New Fairview Baptist Church. For several years she was employed by Morrow Foods in Carthage, Missouri. She was a member of the Democratic Party and enjoyed working elections in LaRussell and Sarcoxie. She always enjoyed reading, visiting and gardening; as well as spending time with her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two sons, Ed Corum and Gary Corum; one grandson, Kevin Smith; and her eight siblings.








Louretta is survived by her children, Carolyn Whisner (Lloyd) of Kansas City, Kansas, Kaye Smith of Carthage, Judy Seymour of Sarcoxie, Bill Corum (Sheila) of Sarcoxie, Bob Corum of Carthage, Steve Corum of Joplin and Becky Massey (Friend) of Sarcoxie; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Donna Corum of Wichita, Kansas; many nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Funeral services for Mrs. Corum are 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 20, 2019 at Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie, Missouri with Pastor Don Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Harvey Cemetery. Those honoring her life by serving as pallbearers are grandsons Brian Whisner, Dustin Smith, Todd Corum, Mickey Corum, Eli Corum and Cooper Massey. Visitation will be Wednesday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The family has requested memorial contributions be made to Harvey Cemetery in care of the funeral home.
