She then was inspired to finish college and become a Head Start teacher, which she did from 1971-1980. She then sought new endeavors as an over-the-road truck driver; for ten years she loved traveling and seeing the country.

Dorothy was a member of the West Hwy. 60 Church of Christ in Neosho; on January 5, 2011, she re-dedicated her life to Christ. She loved sewing, gardening, crocheting, and re-strapping chairs. There wasn’t anything she couldn’t Google and accomplish. She mainly enjoyed her family and friends.
