Galen “Brent” Watson, age 62, of Joplin, passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin. Mr. Watson, son of the late Galen Hugh Watson and Joann (Lichlyter) Briggs, was born on June 18, 1956 in Joplin.
Brent attended Joplin High School and was an accomplished baseball player for Joplin High, graduating with the class of 1974.
On November 14, 1983 in Miami, Ok he was united in marriage to Loretta Agurirre, she survives. He was employed by Eagle Pitcher of Joplin. Brent enjoyed various outdoor activities including fishing, golfing, and Cardinals baseball. He enjoyed his bowling league and was an avid collector of slot cars. His family will remember his loving and generous heart and how he loved spending his time with his kids and grandchildren the most.
Family includes his wife, Loretta Watson, Joplin; one son, Jason Hughes, of Orlando; two daughters, Carrie Fleury, and her husband, Donnie, of Nixa, and Brittany Beauchamp, of Joplin; eight grandchildren, Jace, Jayla, Christian, Kaitlyn, Adin, Jaxton, Gavin, Brinley; and one brother, Danny Watson, of Joplin. In addition to his parents, Brent was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Brinley; one sister, Stacy Watson; and one brother, Chip Watson.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2019 at 6:00 pm at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary in Joplin. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the mortuary.
