Katherine Allene Phillips, 54, passed from this life on Monday, June 17, 2019 at Mercy Hospital, Joplin.
Katherine was born on March 1, 1965 in Odessa, Texas to the union of Evan Lewis and Ima Jean (Trimble) Jones. Katherine last worked at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center as a Med Tech. Over her career she made special friendships that last for a lifetime. She had spent the last ten years in the very facility where she worked and not only herself, but her family was very grateful for the love and compassion that was shown to her.
Early in life Katherine enjoyed fishing, crafting, beading, painting, and making ceramics. The family found a journal after her passing and she had written on this particular day that “I’m thankful for burritos and Christ”. She especially enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her father, Evan Jones; uncle, Benny Trimble; aunt, Jo Ann Trimble.
Katherine is survived by her mother, Ima Jean Jones of Victoria, Texas; two sons, Raymond Vazquez and wife Caren of Baxter Springs, Kansas, and Benjamin Vasquez of Ft. Worth, Texas; daughter, Amber Vazquez of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; two brothers, John Jones and wife Racheal of Victoria, Texas, Mike Jones and wife Pamela of Iraan, Texas; two sisters, Bonnie Cusick and husband Carl of Webb City and Emily Holcombe of Hollywood, Florida; six grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019 at Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel. Pastor Daniel Berryhill officiated the services. Following the service Katherine has been entrusted to Derfelt’s Baxter Chapel for cremation, with burial at a later date.
