Freda Joan Wolfenbarger Tipton was delivered by her paternal grandmother on June 28, 1933 to Wayne Curtis Wolfenbarger and Mildred Maples Wolfenbarger (Reynolds) on the Wolfenbarger farm in McDonald County.
Joan graduated from Neosho High School in 1951 and married Frank C. Tipton on September 30, 1955. Frank and Joan owned and operated a large poultry farm in Neosho for many years which enabled them to retire early and spend years together traveling around the world, enjoying friends and family, spending time in Orange Beach Alabama, Port Arkansas Texas and their beloved place on Table Rock Lake. Frank preceded her in death on May 17, 2003.
Joan was a member of the Red Hat Group, several bridge groups over the years and a member of the First Christian Church where she rolled pie dough for the annual apple pie sale every year. Joan relocated to Texas in January 2017 to be close to her family where she lived until her passing on November 7, 2018.
She is survived by a nephew, Mark Wolfenbarger and wife, Becky; niece Sheryl Scherr and husband, Jeff; niece Wendy Jo Onken and husband, John. Great nieces, Amanda Trimble, Jessica Jo Odom and Kelly Looman; great nephews, John Mark Onken and Blake Onken; two great great nephews and three great great nieces; sister in law Phyllis Morgan Wolfenbarker, all of Texas and first cousin, Carol Maples Southern and family of Missouri.
Graveside services will be Tuesday, November 13, 20108 at 1 pm at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, Pastor Al Gritten will officiate.
Friends may call at the Clark Funeral Home, Monday from 9 am until 5 pm. The casket will be closed at all times.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Joan may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, c/o Clark Funeral Home, PO Box 66; Neosho, Missouri 64850.
