(From Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary)Mrs. Marjorie Jane Houk, 89, a lifelong area resident of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Thursday, May 5, 2022, in the comfort of her home.
Marjorie entered this life on February 5, 1933, in Joplin, Missouri, daughter of the late Alfred and Ula (Carter) Deaver. On February 26, 1955, she was united in marriage to John Houk and together they have shared the last sixty-seven years. Besides being a devoted homemaker, Marjorie worked early in her life at Sherman’s Orange Juice Stand and Miller’s Manufacturing. She enjoyed reading and working crossword and jigsaw puzzles.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Geneva Deaver.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, John Houk of the home; a son, Gary Jones and wife, Levana, of Joplin; two grandchildren, Tim Jones of Joplin and Stephanie Leas and husband, Brent, of Bentonville; and four great grandchildren, Cameron Scribner, Breanna Leas, Josiah Leas and Sophia Leas.
Graveside services are 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 9, 2022, at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery with Chaplain Roger Flint officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri.
