(From Ingram Funeral Service)Robert L. “Bob” Shanks, 94, lifelong resident of Marysville, passed away early Monday morning, March 27, 2023, at Memorial Gables after months of failing health.
Bob was born the youngest of three boys in Marysville to Dewey L. and Pauline I. (Simpson) Shanks.
After graduating from Marysville High School in 1946, he proudly and humbly served his country in the United States Army before marrying the love of his life, Virginia B. Emrich, November 29, 1952, at the United Methodist Church in Amlin.
While he worked for several organizations over the years as a printer, he began his career with the Scott’s Company here in Marysville for 27 years. He and Virginia were longtime members of the Cornerstone Global United Methodist Church.
Bob also held membership with the Aladdin Shrine Temple, and he recently celebrated 70 years as a Freemason. A lifelong fan of baseball, Bob avidly cheered on his Cincinnati Reds, and he enjoyed watching both Ohio State basketball as well as football.
Family was first and foremost for Bob. He was deeply devoted to his wife, Virginia, and they enjoyed traveling to all the continental states in their retirement years. They drove to each one of them and had a lot of fun along the way together. He was a kind hearted, faithful provider for his children Larry and Linda, and he was there for them all throughout their lives. They will miss his steadfast and loving presence every day.
