Kent Daugherty

(From Clark Funeral Home)

Kent D. Daugherty, age 62, of Neosho, Missouri, passed away at 9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023, at Freeman West Hospital in Joplin, Missouri. He was born October 24, 1960, in Neosho to Ted D. and Shirley E. (McReynolds) Daugherty.

Kent was a 1979 graduate of Neosho High School and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Neosho.

He started his career as a salesman for Thomas Cadillac in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and retired from Griffith Motors in Neosho after 26 years of service. Kent proudly built an excellent clientele of whom he was sincerely grateful for. He was a perfectionist.

Kent loved to sit by the fire and go camping at the “Low Water Bridge” with friends and his faithful dogs, Skillet and Bullet. He loved a good story, occasionally embellishing, and all who knew him loved to hear him tell his tales. His favorite pastime was his notorious birthday party which he would hold annually with numerous friends and family…even though he was “always broke.”

He is survived by his father, Ted Daugherty; one brother, Mark (Cindy) Daugherty; one sister, LaDonna (Jim) Daugherty-Parmley all of Neosho; nieces and nephews; Brian, Michael and Alan Daugherty, and Jesse, Lindsey and Jace Parmley; and a host of extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Shirley and his son, Nathaniel Kent Daugherty who passed on March 28, 2008.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at the Neosho IOOF Cemetery. Friends may pay their respects from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 21, at the Clark Funeral Home in Neosho.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Carthage Animal Shelter. This charity is dear to Kent because shortly following his son Nathaniel’s passing his dog had thirteen pups. Kent kept two; however, the Carthage Animal Shelter graciously accepted the others.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Webwood Assisted Living for the care and kindness shown to Kent during his stay.

Online condolences may be shared at www.clarkfuneralhomes.com.
