(From Conroy Tulley Walker Funeral Home)With heavy hearts we announce the passing of David Christopher Coy from Portland, Me. who passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 6, 2023 at the young age of 47.
David was born on December 24, 1975, in Nevada, MO, a son to Carroll Wendell Coy and Betty Jo Bunker. David grew up in Maine in the Lakes Region Area and was a 1995 Honor Roll graduate of Lake Region High School. He loved participating in high school sports, played on the A string varsity football team, dedicated weight lifter, joined the wrestling team, advanced to states and earned MVP.
While in high school he became an amateur entrepreneur selling comics, baseball cards and repairing Gameboys. After graduating, he worked at Sabre Yachts in the wood working department and Salvation Army for many years. He enjoyed watching WWE wrestling and the New England Patriots. He expressed his emotions through drawing and artistic expression. He is remembered by many as a man of good heart who would always help his friends and family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and residents at the Shalom House for their compassion and companionship they shared with David.
David was predeceased by his father, Carroll Coy; paternal grandparents, Coal and Mrytle Coy; maternal grandparents, Carl and Rosa Bunker; an infant brother and sister. He is survived by his mother, Betty Jo Bunker of FL; stepfather, Leo Thomas Collins; siblings, Pamela Collins, Kimberly Collins, and Jason Collins; nine half sisters and brothers, all of Lamar, MO; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. All services will be private with burial in Osage Cemetery, Horton, Missouri at a later date.
