(From Parker Mortuary)Dorothy May Burns, age 79 of Joplin, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2023 at her home following an extended illness. Dorothy was born April 14, 1943 in Nevada, Missouri to the late Albert Brokob and Pearl Marie Rose. She retired from the former St. John’s Hospital of Joplin after many years of service in the Housekeeping Department.
Dorothy married Norman Burns in Miami, Oklahoma, he preceded her in death in 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Toni Woods and wife, Shelley of Dover, TN., Tommy Woods and wife, Theresa of Joplin; daughter, Sue Woods and Mike Brower of Joplin; step-son, Shane Burns and wife, Jaci of Webb City; brother, Bill Brokob and wife, Tamara of Girard, Kansas; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and many friends and extended family.
Graveside services are planned for Monday, April 3rd at 11:00am at Moore Cemetery in Nevada, Missouri. Family will greet friends and family on Sunday, April 2nd from 4:00pm to 5:00pm in the Parker Mortuary Chapel.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
