(From Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home)Donald Ray “Ray” Mosley, age 91 of Tazewell, VA passed away Wednesday, March 8, 2023 at Carilion Tazewell Community Hospital.
Born October 16, 1931, he was a son of the late George Mosley and Virginia Pearl Day Mosley. Donald attended Open Door Community Church in Baptist Valley, VA and he was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Joplin, MO. He was a 1949 graduate of Gary High School in Gary, WV.
He touched many, many lives as he traveled around the world. He was very outgoing and he was very active in his church. He and his wife Verna enjoyed collecting coinglass while traveling throughout the United States. He was a retired Tech Sergeant with the US Air Force. Post retirement, he oversaw the communications department of the Missouri Southern State University while teaching there.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Verna Mosely; one brother, Walter Edward Mosley; one nephew, Michael David Hash.
Left to cherish his memory are two brothers, Gene R. Mosley of Tazewell, VA and William W. Mosley and wife Sharon of Bulls Gap, TN; Jerry and Linda Newman, who were like his children; brother-in-law, Edmond Duer and wife Lavorene and brother-in-law DeVern Orth; sisters-in-law, Vangie Barth, Cynthia Ludwig, and Pam Mosley; special first cousin, Donna Sue Cooper. Several special people, London Hurt, Ron and Naomi R. Magadieu, William, Carol, Coreena, Katie, and Robert Asbury also survive.

The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 PM, Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM with Pastors Charlie McGlothlin and Ronnie Marrs officiating. Nephews Wayne Centers, William Christopher Mosley, Kenneth Wayne Mosley, James Michael Mosley, Randall Shane Cruey, and Martin William Cruey will serve as pallbearers. Members of the Barns-Beavers VFW Post #7136 and the United States Air Force Honor Guard will conduct military honors. Interment will be at Seward Cemetery – 537 N. Hwy 15 Seward, Nebraska 68434 at 10:30 AM, Wednesday, March 22, 2023.
