(From Campbell-Biddlecome Funeral Home)It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and husband Richard Ellis Barnes, who passed away peacefully on March 25, 2023 at the age of 81.
Richard was born May 15, 1941, in Prosperity, Mo. Richard was a devoted Christian man and member of Seneca Church of Christ who treasured his time with his loved ones.
Being raised in the Tiff City area, Richard had a passion for cars from an early age. He spent much of his youth working on cars and learning about their mechanics, eventually developing an impressive knowledge and skill set in the field. Throughout his life, he owned and restored many classic cars, which he proudly displayed at various car shows, parades, and events.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Carolyn and his two daughters Kim Barnes (Seneca, MO) and Dee Thomas (Rogers, AR). Their grandchildren are Chrissy Buening (Seneca, MO), Matthew Buening (Wyandotte, OK) Monica (Jeff) Long (Seneca, MO), Kyle (Michelle) Lankford (Miami, OK), Kolby (Stephanie) Lankford (Miami, OK). Richard has one surviving brother, Larry (Linda) Barnes (Hendersonville, TN). Richard and Carolyn have 13 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild along with many nephews, nieces, and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Punch and Inis (Whitehead) Barnes, brothers, Freddie Barnes and Charley Barnes, and a sister, Wilma Gregory. All remember him fondly for his kind heart, fun loving spirit, and unwavering support.
His legacy lives on through his family and the memories he created with those around him. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A visitation will be held at Seneca Church of Christ on Monday, March 27th at 6:00pm - 8:00pm. A private burial will take place at a later date.
