Ann Smith

(From Parker Mortuary)

Letha Ann Smith was born on January 10, 1948 in Coffeyville, Kansas. She passed away on April 22, 2023, after a long illness.
Ann was a devoted wife and mother. She kept books for her husband Dennis' medical practice for the duration of his long career. He preceded her in death in February of this year.

She raised three children who are all just spectacular human beings.
Horses were her true passion. Everything horses. She lived to ride, often traveling with her daughters to local horse shows and clinics.

She was the leader of the Joplin 4-H club and would take approximately six kids and their horses to the local Newton County Fair every summer. She was a very brave woman. She was also a gardener, seamstress, excellent pianist, fiercely loyal friend, and she could really put an outfit together. She was beautiful inside and out.

Ann was fun. She loved to cut up and have a good time. She could always be counted on to make any situation entertaining. Her wit was quick, and she pulled no punches. She was just amazing.

She is survived by her son Scott Smith and wife Tya; daughter Juliana Hunt and husband Jason; daughter Jennifer Rhymer and husband Paul; five granddaughters Dilyn, Harper, Ayden, Alexia, Amelia, and grandson Samuel.

A memorial visitation is planned for Wednesday, May 3rd from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to any local horse rescue or animal shelter.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, Missouri.
