Ginny Hahn

(From Parker Mortuary)

Virginia Mary Hahn, age 99, of Neosho, formerly of Cicero, IL, entered into her eternal reward, peacefully sleeping, on the morning of Sunday, April 23, 2023, at her home in Neosho, MO. “Ginny,” as most knew her, was just 29 days from celebrating her 100th birthday.

Virginia entered this earth on May 22, 1923, in Chicago, IL to the late John and Ella (Walsh) Dirkes. She grew up and attended school in Illinois, the oldest of four children.

Soon after high school, she moved to New York City. During her time in the city, she met a merchant ship worker, Jack Williams. They were soon united in marriage, celebrating several years of marriage until his passing. Years later, Virginia met and married Robert “Bob” Hahn, who also preceded her in death in 1995. Virginia was a faithful member of the Fifty Eighth Ave Baptist Church and previously employed by Loretto Hospital until her retirement. Virginia moved to Neosho, MO in 2019 to be closer to her only child, Patrick J. Williams, where she resided until her passing.

Virginia loved her Savior, the Lord Jesus, with all her heart, and she loved God’s Word. Though she was a humble, gentle woman, Virginia was nonetheless a powerful prayer warrior and often spent hours reading devotionals. Her love ran deep and her many years of faithful praying for her family, friends, and the world at large, made an eternal impact and set an example for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren that will lead them all their lives.

Survivors include her only child, Patrick J. Williams, of Neosho, MO; one grandson, Rick Williams, of Berwyn, IL; bonus grandchildren, Raquel Ballard, and her husband, James, of Wilmington, IL, Crystal Grgec, and her husband, Stanko, of Riverton, IL, Rey Bryand, and his wife, Jessica, of Neosho, MO; bonus great grandchildren, Megan, Johnny, Mercedez, Tim, PJ, Nino, Dakota, Chelsey, Ashley, Madisyn, Spencer and Brenna; and 14 bonus great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Virginia was preceded in death by three brothers, John Dirkes, Donald Dirkes, and George Dirkes; one grandson, PJ Williams; bonus granddaughter, Shelah Russell; bonus great granddaughter, Samantha Ballard; and a bonus great-great grandson, Greyson Hickerson.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 10:00 AM at the Fifty Eighth Ave Baptist Church, 2228 S 58th Ave, in Cicero, IL with committal of ashes to follow at the Mount Auburn Memorial Park Cemetery, 4101 S Oak Park Ave, in Stickney, IL. In memory of Virginia, Memorial contributions may be made to one of her favorite organizations, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.
