(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Brenda Joyce Dodd, age 80, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on February 1st, 2024 in the comfort of her home on hospice care.
Brenda was born on August 12th, 1943, in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She married her loving husband James (Jim) Dodd on September 3rd, 1971. They had a blended family.
Brenda worked as a Supervisor with Environmental Services at St. John’s Hospital for many years. She later became a patient care specialist-advocate at Mercy Hospital after the Joplin tornado.
She loved working with her co-workers. They became like a second family to her. They showered her with love and support after the passing of her late husband Jim.
Brenda loved spending time at the lake and fishing with her friends and family.
Brenda is survived in death by her loving son, Shawn Dodd (Tanya) of Joplin, her daughter Darlene Culhane (Dan) of Roswell, Georgia. Her stepsons Jim Allen Dodd, Stacy Dodd, and stepdaughter Linda Dodd. Her grandchildren, Michelle Dodd-Burggraf, Jennifer Dodd Jones, Christy Dodd-Wilson, Ronnie Dodd, Melanie and Michael Culhane. Her sister Linda Collins of Nashville, TN. Bonus mom-Dottie Waldroup of Henderson, Texas.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband James (Jim) H. Dodd. Her father Billy Joe Gray, mother-Loraine Strickland, Sisters Sharon Hanson, and Billie Jo Hires.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 7th, 2024, at Mason-Woodard Chapel 3701 E. 7th Street, Joplin, Missouri, 64801.
Her final resting place is Rose Hill Cemetery in Willard, Missouri.

I always enjoyed visiting with Brenda back in the old St John's days. She was always quick with a smile. My condolences to her family.
