Carl Ledbetter

Carl Edmond Ledbetter of Neosho, MO, died at the age of 96 on February 6, 2024. He was born in Lutie, MO on October 15, 1927, to Allen and Bertha Ledbetter. He married Elizabeth Evert with whom he shared three daughters: Sherry, Kathy, and Nancy. He later married Sara Jane Dahlstrom. She survives.

Carl began his teaching career in a one-room schoolhouse in Lutie, MO. He was drafted into the army and served for two years. He received his bachelor's degree in education from what was then called Southwest Missouri State College and his master's degree from the University of Missouri. He taught in the Neosho School District from 1957 until he retired as the Director of Transportation in 1982.






 

He spent most of his adult life as a member of Northside Baptist Church and more recently Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by his loving wife Sara, three daughters: Sherry Sharp (Larry), Kathy McBride (Ken), and Nancy Ridgley, 9 grand-children, 8 great-grandchildren with another on the way and two nieces, Jennifer Creed and Jill Hogan. He was preceded in death by his brother W.D. Ledbetter, a sister Delphia Hogan, and two great-grandchildren, Calvin Kaupp and Avelyne McBride.






 

Visitation will be at 9:30 am on Friday, February 9 with funeral services following at 10:00 am at Clark Funeral Homes Chapel of Memories.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Carl can be made to Gentiva Hospice in Neosho, MO.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
