Doug Killinger

Douglas “Doug” Alan Killinger, 64, of Joplin MO passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by family and friends on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 after a short and courageous battle with cancer.

Despite facing many challenges throughout his illness, Doug displayed optimism and hope. He was always known for his humor in his life and always brought joy to those around him.








Doug was born in Topeka Kansas, September 27th, 1960. He was the son of the late Frank and the late Eugenia “Gene” Killinger.

Doug was a devoted husband, survived by his wonderful wife Susi who never left his side throughout his illness. The two were married for 38 years. Doug was a fantastic father to his children, Danny and Abigael. He enjoyed being “Pop, Pop” to his granddaughter, Amara Alahmed.

He was cherished by his brothers and sisters, Greg Killinger (Sarah) Leawood Kansas, the late Karen Hanna (Tim) Topeka Kansas, Janet Carrell (the late Leroy) Topeka Kansas, and Steve Killinger (Shelly) Topeka Kansas.

Doug attended Hayden High school in Topeka where he graduated in 1979.








He spent over 20 years working for Dominos Pizza. Then he worked for Pizza Hut for over 8 years. After that he went to work for the Joplin Globe and Bimbo Bakeries where he retired in 2022.

Throughout his life Doug enjoyed fishing when he could, sitting in the back yard watching and feeding the birds. Doug spent a lot of time sitting on the front porch during his retirement. He cherished spending time with his family members and watching the Chiefs, the Cardinals, and the Royals play.

A memorial visitation has been scheduled from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
