(From Mason-Woodard Mortuary)Michael Cervantes Balingit, age 50 of Joplin, Missouri passed away unexpectedly Monday December 29, 2025.
He was born April 18, 1975 in Pampanga, Philippines to Fernando and Leonida (Cervantes) Balingit.
Michael worked at the Neighborhood Market and was of the Catholic faith. He was a devoted husband and father who worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He found great joy in cooking, spending time with his kids, and being surrounded by family; especially his siblings and their families. Michael had a way of making everyone feel included and welcome.
Michael was known for his generous heart. He was the kind of person who would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. He dreamed of one day having a farm in the Philippines, surrounded by animals and his loved ones. His laughter and jokes could light up an entire room, leaving lasting memories with everyone.
He will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, and the deep love he had for his family.
He married Effie Matias on April 10, 2010 in the Philippines and she survives. Michael is also survived by two children, Michael Andrei Balingit and Micaela Balingit; four brothers, Clifford Balingit, Edgardo Balingit, Hermogenes Balingit, Fernado Balingit Jr.; five sisters, Pamela Scoville, Elena Flores, Teresa Ibe, Marcia Arceo, and Irma Canivel, as well as numerous extended family and friends.
Memorial Mass will be 2:00 pm Thursday January 8, 2026 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary with Fr Brian Straus officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00 am Tuesday January 6, 2026 at Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory Joplin, Missouri.

He will be missed at his work by all of his crew. Such a sweet man. Gone way too soon. May God hold him tight. Prayers lifted for his family🙏🙏
