Jerry Herron

Jerry Herron, age 81 of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at the Clarehouse in Tulsa following an extended illness.

Jerry was born May 20, 1933 to the late James Frank Herron and Hazel Messer Herron in Pitcher, Oklahoma. He was a tool and die maker for many years in the aerospace industry. Jerry also proudly served our country in the United States Navy.

On April 15, 1959, Jerry married his beautiful wife, Janet Croach in Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on July 12, 2006. He is also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Herron.

Those who survive Jerry are a daughter, Shari Herron of Tulsa; son, Gerald Herron Jr. and wife Alycia of Tulsa, OK; granddaughter, Teresa Anderson of Annandale, VA; step-grandson, Chance of Tulsa; sisters, Sally Compton of Coalinga, CA, Jeri Corrin of Santa Rosa, CA, sister in-law, Marilyn Moore of Metropolis, IL; niece, Diana Steele and husband David of Joplin; nephew, Frankie Herron of Joplin and his sons; great niece, Jessica Persinger and husband Matthew of Neosho and their children; great nephew, David Steele and wife Lindsey of Neosho and their children; cousin, Paul Cantrell and wife Doris of Joplin; granddog, Zeevah and many other family and friends.

Graveside services are planned for Thursday, March 19, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. Family will receive friends prior to service from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. at the mortuary.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America in care of the mortuary.

Dolis Harvey

Dolis Winfred Chase Harvey, 94, former resident of Neosho, passed away on March 2, 2015 in Fullerton, California, where she relocated due to health. 

She spent the last years of her life living with her daughter, Patricia Triplett and her family. Dolis was born March 9, 1920 in the Erie Township of McDonald County, Missouri, the eldest child of Hezzie and Hazil Chase. Dolis was employed in retail sales and she was respected by many that she served. She will be remembered by all of those who knew her as a generous and caring person who always saw the best in people and did all she could to support that goodness. 

Dolis married Lester Donald Harvey of Anderson, Missouri in 1938 and they had two daughters, Donetta and Patricia. She is preceded in death by her husband, Lester and daughter, Donetta. Dolis is survived by her daughter, Patricia Triplett and four grandchildren, Donetta’s children, Julie and Cyndi and Patricia’s children, Aaron and Laura. She is also survived by one member of her parental family, Hubert Chase of Ft. Worth, Texas.

Bettye Boyd

Bettye Louise Gerhardt Boyd, age 91, Joplin, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at her home with family at her side.

Bettye was born March 21, 1923 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, daughter of the late Julius William Gerhardt and Rosalia Fredrica Woeltje Gerhardt. She graduated from Cape Girardeau High School, attended Yale School of Art, and then married Robert Boyd on April 11, 1954 in Cape Girardeau. She moved to Joplin in 1968, where she helped her husband with their business, Grandpa’s, located on North Main Street in Joplin.

She was a very generous person who helped many people through the years. She was fiercely proud of her German (Bavarian and Upper Saxon) lineage, "I'm a pure blooded German", loved to play any card game, and was a competitor. Her life was dedicated to her children, grandchildren, and her children's friends, especially celebrating birthdays which were major productions in her yearly plans. She was a better wife than any man deserved, she had fresh flowers every day of the year, and fought hard to reach her 92nd birthday.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by five siblings, Kermit W. Gerhardt, Burton Julius Gerhardt, Reginald F. Gerhardt, William A. Gerhardt, Julius W. Gerhardt, Jr., and Sally Gerhardt Clayton.

Survivors include her husband, Robert Boyd of Joplin; children, Randolph Nelson Sykes and wife Kim of Port Orange, Florida, Ann Elizabeth Mockett-Smith and husband David Smith of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; Robert Wesley Boyd and wife Cindy of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Katherine Trammell and husband Dr. Vic Trammell of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and Derrick Ingram and wife Jackie of Houston, Texas; known as "Gom-Gom to her grandchildren, Hannah K. Boyd of Tulsa, Ann Elizabeth Smith of New Smyrna Beach, Ian S. Boyd of Tulsa, and Kevin and Kyle Ingram of Houston, Hill, Virginia, and John Trammell.

Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary.

Jessica Lowe

Jessica E. Lowe, 40, of Joplin, MO passed away Sunday, March 15th, surrounded by her family after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was the daughter of Dick and Jo Ann Lowe. Truly a gift from God, Jessica was born during the year of their 20th wedding anniversary. "Red", as she was lovingly called in her early years by family, faced many adversities in her short life, but like the Prophet Paul, she "ran the race" and will forever live with Christ. As a member of Forest Park Baptist Church, she was an active volunteer with the Awana organization and Bible School Programs.

Jessica had a deep love for God, her family, and friends. To know Jessica was to know the very best of the human spirit. She will forever be loved and cherished by her family.

Jessica was preceded in death by her father Richard E. Lowe in May 2014.

She is survived by her Mother Jo Ann Lowe of Joplin, MO, Sister Dy Ann Stilley (Chuck) of Leawood, KS, Nephew Sam Stilley of Austin, TX, Nieces Lauren Stilley of San Diego, CA, Le Ann Stilley-Luce (James Luce) of Kansas City, MO, Uncles Gary Vernon (Sharon) of Joplin, MO, Ron Vernon (Pat) of Mustang, OK, Aunt Helen Lowe of Joplin, MO and many cousins.

A celebration of her life will be held at Forest Park Chapel in Joplin, MO on Wednesday, March18th at 11:00A.M.. Contributions to be made to the Forest Park Awana Fund and Kansas City Hospice House at 12000 Wornall Rd. KC,MO 64124.

Lowell Williams

Lowell R. Williams, 81, Neosho, died March 16, 2015 at his home in Neosho, following a lengthy illness. 

Lowell was born June 14, 1933 in Huntsville, MO and moved to the Seneca-Westview area as a child. He served in the National Guard and then the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict, 1953-1957. He was an antique dealer, a private pilot and designed local store displays and interiors. He was an accomplished artist and had served as president of the Neosho High School Booster Club, Crowder College Roughrider Booster Club and a Golden Glove Sponsor. Lowell was honored as a 50 years Mason and was a member of the Scottish Rite.

 He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca J. Williams of Neosho; daughter in law, Debbie Love of Neosho; six grandchildren, Genevieve Williams, Joshua Love, Marissa Love, Valerie Love, Cesar Estrada and William Wiseman; four great grandchildren, one brother, John Williams of Washington; two sisters, Annetta Swartz of Kansas City, MO and Leona Smith of Rogers, AR and his former wife, Kay Caudell. Lowell is preceded in death by a son, Eric Williams in February 2010; two sisters, Marge and Norma; a brother, Bud and the mother of his children, June Williams.

Wilma March

Wilma L. Kiphart March, age 93, formerly of Joplin passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015 at the Osage Beach Rehabilitation Center in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Wilma was born June 19, 1921 to the late Paul William Ludwig and Mary Jane Dufur Ludwig in Kirksville, MO.

Wilma worked as an auditor for Control Data Corp. in Rochester, Michigan and 17 years at Seaboard Finance Co. in Detroit, MI as well. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Joplin.

She is survived by her son, Marc Kiphart and his fiance', Pam Allen of Joplin; granddaughters, Melisa Kiphart of Wichita, KS, Sarah Horner and husband Bryant also of Wichita; a niece, Rhonda Dillon of West Branch, Michigan.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Eldon T. Kiphart who passed away in 1979; her second husband, Anthony March; brothers, Ray, Emery and Bernie Ludwig.

There are no services planned at this time.

Bernadette Streeter

Bernadette Marie Streeter, daughter of Nicholas and Christina Streeter, died March 9, 2015. She was born at 12:21 pm the same day in Joplin, MO. She spent her short time on earth with her parents before being called to join God and His angels and saints in Heaven. Bernadette is survived by siblings John, Paul, Mary, and Emma of Carl Junction, MO; grandparents David and Debbie Streeter, of Carl Junction, MO, Gary and Kathy Eck of Sarcoxie, MO; and great-grandparents James and Jessie Streeter and Edana Fenske. She was preceded in death by her brother Isaac Streeter and great-grandparents Kenny and Ina Mae Guilfoyle, Raymond and Emma Eck, and Louis Fenske.

A Vigil Service was held on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Joplin, MO.  Father J. Friedel celebrated a Funeral Mass on Friday, March 13, 2015, also at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial followed at St. Agnes Cemetery in Sarcoxie, MO. 

Memorial contributions may be made to LifeHouse Crisis Maternity Home, operated by Catholic Charities of Southern Missouri, or Casa Angelica, a home for developmentally disabled children run by the Canossian Daughters of Charity.
