Ronald D. ‘Ronnie’ Johnston, age 74, Neck City, passed away at 2:25 a.m. Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Webb City Health and Rehabilitation Center after an illness.
Ronnie was born March 8, 1940 in Joplin to the late Donald Johnston and Selma Shupp Johnston and had lived in the area all of his life.
He worked as a technician for the Joplin Water Treatment Plant for several years. In his youth, Ronnie was active in baseball and earned the nickname, ‘Stretch’, for his ability to make plays at first base.
Ronnie was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara; a son, Tobby Johnston; one brother, Jesse Johnston; and his stepfather, Frank Carlisle.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Johnston, Joplin, Paul Johnston, Neck City; siblings, Donald Johnston, Marblemount, Washington, Janice Lashmet, Neck City, Susan Dorris, Neck City; grandchildren, Joshua, Jake, Grace; and great grandchildren, Noah, Raine, Samuel, Brianna and Bryce.
A graveside committal of ashes is planned for Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Friends Cemetery, Purcell.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.

Steve Corwin

Steven Mark Corwin, age 38, ‘Uncle Stevo’, Joplin, passed away at 5:20 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Mercy Hospital after heart failure.
Steven was born August 7, 1975 in Joplin to Lena Cornell Corwin and the late Vincel Corwin. He was a lifelong Joplin resident.
Steven worked doing different things. For the past couple of years, he was busy with a lawn business. He was a favorite uncle to several nieces and nephews and he will be dearly missed.
Survivors include his mother, Lena Corwin, Joplin; a daughter, Allison Jones-Corwin, Webb City; two sisters, Teresa Arnold and Carla DeStefano, both of Joplin; brother, Randy Corwin, Joplin; eight nieces and nephews; ten great nieces and nephews; and a father figure to Ashley Jones, Webb City.
In addition to his father, Steven was preceded in death by a brother, Carl Ray Corwin.
Graveside services are planned for Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery. Rev. Jack Daniels will officiate. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel.

Joe Edgar Briley was called home by the Lord on April 28, 2014 at the age of 90.
He was born July 5, 1923 in Berryville, Arkansas to the late Evert Briley and Mary Wilkins Briley.

John Isaac Fleming, 14, of Webb City, passed away Sunday, April 27, from injuries sustained in a four-wheeler accident.
John was born on September 14, 1999 in Joplin to Brian and Valerie (Oakes) Fleming. He was an eighth-grader at Webb City Junior High School. He was a member of the Webb City Jr. High Marching Band, the Jazz Band, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and the Student Council. He played the tuba, drums, guitar, and keyboard. He played team basketball and football in the past, and had recently been on the track team, throwing the shot put. He loved playing basketball after school with his good friends. He loved to attend church camp in the summer. John enjoyed playing guitar with his Dad and brothers, and loved riding the 4-wheeler.
John had attended church at Riverton Friends Church and was a member of the Prosperity Apostolic Faith Church. He was very active in the youth group and was on the praise team. He was a children's church volunteer and had volunteered at Watered Gardens with his youth group. He was a member of a contemporary Christian band, Immortal Devotion, and wrote songs for them. John felt like he had a “call from God” on his life to be a preacher. He spent many hours listening to the sermons of others and studying his Bible.
Survivors include his mother, Valerie Fleming, of the home; father, Brian Fleming, Webb City; brothers, Micah (and girlfriend, Maisie Johnson, Oronogo), and Samuel, of the home; maternal grandparents, Dennie and Karen Oakes, Joplin; paternal grandmother, Opal Irene Fleming, Joplin; maternal great-grandmother, Wanda “Mamaw” Allgood, Joplin; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and “best” friends.
John was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Thomas Fleming and a cousin, Thomas Adam Fleming.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3rd, at Christ's Church of Oronogo in Oronogo, Mo. Visitation will be Friday, May 2nd, from 5-7 p.m., also at CCO. Burial will be at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Webb City, Mo.

Ray Harmon

Ollie Ray Harmon, "Popie", age 82, Joplin, passed away on Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Mercy Hospital of Joplin.
Ray was born January 22, 1932 in Joplin, son of the late Ollie Harmon and Katherine Lea Harmon. He was a caddie at Oak Hill Golf and Country Club (now Twin Hills County Club) as a youth, and then during World War II he worked for the Apple Grower's Association in Parkdale, Oregon until the age of 18. He later worked for Boeing Aircraft until he was drafted into the Army in April of 1952 where he served in Korea and Japan before being discharged in 1954.
He returned to Joplin and worked for Vickers from 1955 until 1962, and then Scheurich Construction, Rocketdyne, Continental Motors, and finally Teledyne in Neosho where he retired in 1992.
He was a member of the United Auto Workers Local # 1070, the V.F.W. Post 534, and Iron Gates Christian Church.
He married Rosetta Woods in 1952, and they had five children, she preceded him in death on August 23, 1995. He was also preceded in death by sisters, Ada Mauller and Bonnie Blagg, a brother, Ronnie Harmon.
He married Georgia Crawford in 1996, and they spent the last 18 years by each other's side enjoying being with family. Ray enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing golf, but his real love was spending time with his family. They meant everything to him, and he to them. The world was a better place with him in it, and his presence will be missed terribly by all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife, Georgia; his children, Randy Harmon and wife Brenda of Neosho, Rodney Harmon and wife Connie of Joplin, Rowland Harmon and wife Debby also of Joplin, Ryan Harmon and wife Janelle of Everett, Washington, and Gina Harmon Solis and husband Bill of Kirkland, Washington; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; brother, Darrell Harmon of Baxter Springs, Kansas; sister, Annalee Hildreth of Carl Junction, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews.
At Ray's request, there will be no formal service, but the family will receive friends at Iron Gates Christian Church, 2311 Iron Gates Road on Thursday, May 1, 2014 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Inurnment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Osborne Memorial Cemetery.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society care of Parker Mortuary.

Mrs. Virginia N. Coleman, 73, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, after a long illness.
Virginia entered this life on October 5, 1940, in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Thomas and Lois (Ketcher) Haynes. She was a lifelong area resident of Joplin. On April 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Herbie E. Coleman and to this union three sons and three daughters were born. She worked alongside her husband for several years detailing cars for numerous area dealerships. Later in life she worked in home healthcare. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling with her sisters to various casinos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbie Coleman on April 5, 1983; an infant daughter, Lois Lucille Coleman; and two brothers, Melvin and Burl Haynes.
Virginia is survived by three sons, Herbie “Pete” Coleman and wife, Leigh, of Carthage, Missouri, Tommy Coleman and wife, April, of Joplin and Darwin Coleman and wife, Stacey, also of Joplin; two daughters, Ramona Reppond and husband, Ralph, of Webb City, Missouri and Carla Green and husband, Dustin, of Joplin; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; five sisters, Alice Boyer, Carolyn Barnard, Edna Frossard, Maxine Bulen and Sharon Atwood all of Joplin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.

Betty L. Wilson age 91 of Carthage, MO. passed away April 27, 2014 at Carthage Health & Rehab. She was born August 17, 1922 in Golden City, Missouri to Claude and Mae (Pelley) Howard. Betty was a teacher and guidance counselor in the Carthage school system for many years. She was a lifelong member of the First Christian Church of Carthage where she taught bible classes for over fifty years.
Betty was united in marriage to Willard Wilson on January 15, 1942 . He preceded her in death on January 31, 2003. Survivors include a son, Quentin Wilson. Two grandsons, Dax Wilson and Chad Wilson. Two granddaughters, Symonne Porras and Heather Dean. One great-grandson, Trestin Dean. Two great-granddaughters, Hanna Porras and Maddie Jo Porras .

Ed Steele

Edward C. ‘Ed’ Steele, age 80, Joplin, passed away at 8:58 a.m. Sunday, April 27, 2014 at Mercy Hospital. Knowing him the way we do, he is already cutting out whirly gigs to place on Heaven’s gate.
He was born August 16, 1933 in Joplin to the late Kenneth L. Steele and Anna V. Marlnee Steele.
Ed retired from Eagle Picher Industries, Precision Products. He enjoyed making beaded head dresses and various other wood working projects. He was involved with scouting for many years and was a faithful member of New Hope United Methodist Church. He enjoyed life to the fullest, even during a long bout with cancer. He was a devoted husband; father; grandfather and great grandfather. He adored his grandchildren and will be truly missed.
He married Eva Bernice Dome on May 1, 1953. She survives at the home.
Additional survivors include four sons, Kenneth Steele and his wife, Vickie, Webb City, Mike Steele and his wife, Evelyn, Joplin, Randy Steele, Joplin, Greg Steele and his wife, Denise, Carl Junction; one sister, Judy Stark, Maize, Kansas; one brother, Donnie Steele, Maize, Kansas; grandchildren, Matthew Steele, Chad Steele, Monica Mitchell, Amanda Steele, Tasha Steele, Kyle Vene, Axle Vene; and great grandchildren, Carsen Steele, Maxwell Steele, Darian Steele, Jett Steele, Conner Steele, Hunter Mitchell, and Trinidy Mitchell.

Mary Ellen Baker, 85, Joplin, passed away at 8:20 a.m. Monday, April 28, 2014 at Wildwood Ranch after an illness.
Born Mary Ellen Butler on July 6, 1928 at Monett, Missouri, to the late Odus Eagle Butler and Bessie Fandreger Butler, she was reared in Joplin. She was a 1946 graduate of Joplin High School and a graduate of the former Joplin Junior College. She also graduated from Missouri State University, Springfield and Missouri State University, Warrensburg.
Mary Ellen and Russel E. Baker were married on August 16, 1958 in Joplin. They resided in Kansas City until 1998 when they moved to Joplin. Mr. Baker passed away in 2003.
She taught in the Joplin public schools for five years and in the Kansas City school system for twenty seven years, retiring in 1985.
Mrs. Baker was a member of Immanuel Lutheran church; the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League; the Woman’s Club of Joplin; Alpha Delta Kappa, honorary sorority for women educators; the Missouri Retired Teachers Association and the Kansas City Association of School Retirees.
Survivors include first cousins, John O. Hopper, Nixa, Missouri, Zella Sharp (Maurce), Harrison, Arkansas, Pauline Maples, Crane, Missouri, Paul E. Stewart, Deerfield, Illinois; and a number of next generation cousins, including Sally Macaulay (John), Joplin.
Services are planned for Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Pastor Gregory Mech will officiate. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church, care of Parker Mortuary.

Richard Carroll Johnson, 66, was welcomed home to Heaven by his Lord on Friday night, April 25, 2014 at 10:27 p.m. He had been on home hospice care following lymphoma and renal failure. He was surrounded by his family. He fought a long, hard fight and did it well.
He was born on January 21, 1948 in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to John and Leah Johnson. He graduated from Missouri Southern State College in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree and received his master’s degree in Microbiology from Pittsburg State University in 1974. He was employed at Jasper County Division of Family Services from 1977 to 2002, when he retired.
He married Caroline Fay Marbut on May 30, 1970 in Joplin, where they made their home. He was ordained into the ministry of the Gospel at Memorial Baptist Church in 1980. They served the body of Christ together. They were active members of Emmanuel Baptist in Webb City.
Richard is survived by his wife, Caroline, Alba; his mother, Leah Johnson, Joplin; his brother, Scott Johnson, Arlington, Texas; a daughter, Lesli (Johnson) Stump and her husband, Eldon, St. Cloud, Minnesota; a son, Andy Johnson and his wife, Jennafer, Webb City; a niece, Christie Painter Westhoff, Joplin; and six grandchildren, who were his delight, Brandon, Lauren, Zachary and Anthony Stump, St. Cloud, Minnesota, and Kennedy and Brooklyn Johnson, Webb City.

Vickie Lyn Carey, age 68, Diamond, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at her residence after a long illness.
Vickie was born March 3, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Oadis Frisbie and Grace Erwin Frisbie.
She graduated from Diamond High School in 1964 and earned an associate’s degree from Crowder College. Vickie worked as a real estate agent for 15 years and was associated with several area agencies, including Century 21. She was later employed by J.C. Penney for six years and sold Mary Kay cosmetics for four years.
Vickie was active with the Joplin Genealogy Society and enjoyed scrapbooking; cake decorating and cross stitching.
She married William ‘Pat’ Carey on June 15, 1977 in Carthage. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Danny Rex Judd, Rogers, Arkansas; two daughters, Melissa Judd Jackson and her husband, Scott, Berryville, Arkansas, Shannan Wallace and her husband, Jeremy, Carthage; and 10 grandchildren, Cory Judd, Emily Judd, Kyle Judd, Carson Judd, Jordan Jackson, Mary-Kennedy Jackson, Mills Jackson, Kasilla Wallace, Addison Wallace, and Rylee Wallace.

Martha Stahl

Martha Bayne Stahl, age 89, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Martha was born June 7, 1924, at Lamar, one of the three children of Lester and Margaret (Moran) Pahlow. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Pahlow, and her sister, Margaret Lee (Pahlow) James.
After graduating from Lamar High School in 1942, Martha furthered her education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She worked for Frank Thorpe at Thorpe Industries for two years before joining the staff at Pahlow & Pahlow on the Lamar Square. On December 14, 1946, at Lamar, Martha married Donald Dee Stahl and they made their home and raised their three children in Barton County. After many years with Pahlow & Pahlow, Martha retired to devote more time to what she cherished most, being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and cooking, making special “Saturday Night” memories for her family. She will be remembered by many for her ready smile and warm hospitality. Martha was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Don; two sons, Ralph (Ann) Stahl and Jack (Sherri) Stahl, all of Lamar; a daughter, Mary (Rick) Davidson, Joplin; ten grandchildren, Angel (Kevin) Patterson, Donovan (Jessica) Stahl, Marty (Jeremy) Ansley, Becky (Logan) Powell, Wendy (Lindy) Rose, Kim Earl, Kelly (Brock) Phipps, Kerry (Jason) Cravens, Kaycia (Joe) Jones, and Ashley Davidson; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26th, at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial was in Lake Cemetery.

Paul worked for Montgomery Ward retiring in 1983 and then he worked for Pearl Brothers Hardware. He Married Grace Wiggins-Warthen on September 23, 1969 in Ft. Collins, CO. Paul was a member of the First Baptist Church of Duenweg where he served as deacon and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Raymond McCoy, and a sister Lois Sumrall. Survivors include his wife Grace of the home, three sons: Ed Warthen and wife Brenda of Joplin, MO, Mervin Warthen of Neosho, MO and Melvin Warthen and wife Lorri of Visalia, CA; two daughters; Marshell Spoonmore of Moulton, IA and Melanie Edge and husband Dennis of Diamond, MO a brother John McCoy and wife Joan, three sisters: Milly Helmkay, Iris Stewart and Mary Lou Wollums; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday May 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Duenweg with Pastor Greg Gooch officiating. Patricia June Putnam, age 77, Joplin, Mo. passed away Wednesday April 23, 2014 at National Health Care following a lengthy illness.
Patty was born March 15, 1937 in Joplin, Mo. She was the daughter of Frank and Clarabelle Putnam.
She was a lifelong member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She served as a Sabbath School Teacher in the Children’s Ministry, and the telephone and social committees. She was a LPN and Ward Clerk at Freeman Hospital for 30 years, retiring in 1996.
She is survived by a brother, David Putnam and wife Mary, many cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 A.M. Monday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary chapel. Burial will follow at the Osborn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary.

Steven Wayne ‘Steve’ Tanner, age 60, Joplin, passed away at 10:53 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2014 at his home after an illness.
Steve was born August 31, 1953 in Stella, Missouri to the late Chalmer Tanner and Virgie Gibbens Tanner and had lived in the Neosho area most of his life.
He worked at La-Z-Boy for 32 years and the Webb City School District for 5 years. Steve had a passion for people. He was a humanitarian and was always looking for a way to give back. Steve enjoyed interacting with the young people and teaching them life lessons and responsibilities.
Steve is survived by his wife, Lynda; a daughter, Angela Tanner, Springfield; two stepsons, Troy and Andrew Katchusky, both of Lady Lake, Florida; one sister, Carolyn McKnight, Neosho, brother-in-law, Arnold McKnight, Neosho; nephews, David, Darrin and Davin; and a niece, Misty Lowe.
Services are planned for Monday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Rev. Bob Simon will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service at the mortuary

Grace was born September 21, 1942 to the late Clarence and Velma Bulley Kinney in Blaine, Maine. She was a beautician all her life, owning and operating Bungalow Beauty Shop in Joplin. She married Jerry Banning in 1962 but he passed away just four years later. On April 19, 1968 Grace married Wayne Martin in Joplin. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Jeff Banning and wife Lori of Monett, MO, Roger Martin and wife Stephnie of Bella Vista, AR; adopted daughter, Chelsea Garcia of Joplin; three sisters, Nina Fish and husband Carl of Maine, Linda Klinzman and husband Junior of Columbus, KS, Lillian Sibley and husband Gary of Maine; 10 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

Charlotte Earlene Scourten, Age 80, of Joplin, Missouri, transitioned to be with the Lord on April 23, 2014, at Freeman Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Charlotte was born on April 10, 1934 in Nowata, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Frederick Douglas Hubbard and Eva Hubbard Downing. After the passing of her father Charlotte relocated to Coffeyville, KS where she was raised with her mother and step father Asa Downing. She moved to Joplin, MO in 2008. Charlotte was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Ks. Charlotte was an accomplished seamstress and worked to provide for her family as a tailor in the fine clothing industry and is known for producing numerous fashion shows in the area. She also worked for Coffeyville Regional Hospital, retiring in 1998. She was known for cooking some finger licking meals and enjoyed making crafts. She will be remembered as a person who clearly spoke her opinion, and someone who was very proud of her daughters, grandchildren and family.
Charlotte is survived by two daughters, Cheryl Fields and husband Henry, Joplin, and Tawyuna Palmer, Joplin; five granddaughters; Tracy Scourten, Joplin, Sharla “Nicky” Jones and husband Patrick, Joplin, Tasha Palmer, Garland, TX, Yolanda Britt and husband Lawrence, Memphis, TN, and Megan Palmer and fiancé Jeremy Byers, Dallas, TX; eight great-grandchildren, Jason Scourten, Kristen Scourten, Omar May, Tyana Palmer, Patrick Jones, Jr., Lawrence Britt, III, Landon Britt, and Jeremy Byers, II; and two great-great grandchildren, Aiden Scourten and Jaxson Scourten and close nephew Lyle Malone along with a host of nieces and nephews. Cremation will follow the service with a private interment of ashes to be in Fairview Cemetery, Coffeyville, KS.

Charlotte Earlene Scourten, Age 80, of Joplin, Missouri, transitioned to be with the Lord on April 23, 2014, at Freeman Hospital, surrounded by her family, following a brief illness.
Charlotte was born on April 10, 1934 in Nowata, Oklahoma, the daughter of the late Frederick Douglas Hubbard and Eva Hubbard Downing. After the passing of her father Charlotte relocated to Coffeyville, KS where she was raised with her mother and step father Asa Downing. She moved to Joplin, MO in 2008. Charlotte was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and a lifetime member of Calvary Baptist Church in Coffeyville, Ks. Audrey Landis

Audrey L. Landis, age 34, Joplin, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital after a sudden illness.
Audrey was born April 14, 1980 in Joplin to David Landis and Libby Miller Landis and had lived in Joplin all of her life.
She was employed in the first classes at the new AT&T Mobility Call Center in Joplin. She was hired as a team manager and worked her way up to operations. She began college in the fall of ’98, but did not finish due to personal issues. She loved music and enjoyed playing flute while in school. She was an active member of the Joplin High School Marching Band and was elected drum major for her senior year.
Survivors include her son, Colton Landis; parents, David and Libby Landis, Joplin; one brother, Jared Landis and his wife, Shelly, Overland Park, Kansas; niece, Sydney Landis, Overland Park, Kansas; nephew, Thaddeus Landis, Overland Park, Kansas; and one uncle, Michael Miller, California.
She was preceded in death by an uncle, George Miller.
Services are planned for Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary Chapel. Mike Curry will officiate. The family will receive friends following the services at the mortuary.

Richard Lee James, age 65 of Joplin, passed away at 3:12 a.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at his residence.
Born January 21, 1949 in Granby, MO, he was the son of the late Johnny James and Doris Hoover James. He graduated high school and received his machinist training from Franklin Technical School, working at the former Vickers, Inc. Most of his working life he was a talented commercial and residential tile setter and owned and operated his own business until in 1987, he was struck by an automobile and became disabled. Richard was a C.B. Radio enthusiast in his early years and later built and flew remote control airplanes. He was active in Joplin and Carthage RC airplane clubs. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Vietnam War.
His first wife, Cynthia James, preceded him in death in 2000.
On October 11, 2005 he married Sarah E. Bryant Capps at Miami, OK. She survives.
Additional survivors include three stepchildren, Richard Capps and wife Debbie of Baxter Springs, KS, Larry Capps and wife Gina of Carthage, MO, Mark Capps of Carthage; two brothers, Earl Henson and Marsha of the Carl Junction, MO area, Bennie Allen and wife Susie of Indianapolis, IN; four sisters, Wanda Thompson and husband Denny of Troy, MO, Brenda Sewell and husband Larry of Joplin, Jama Stone and husband Danny of Oklahoma, Jane Griffitt and husband Bobby of Lockwood, MO; ten grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Jo Allen and a stepdaughter, Cynthia Capps.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at Parker Chapel. Interment will follow at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with David Fort, Cody Moback, Brandon Franklin, Aaron McClane, John McClane and Robert Henson serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the mortuary.

Louise Williamson-Filarski

Louise Kerr was born on December 5, 1925 in Bartlesville, OK to Fred and Katherine Kerr. She was the fifth of nine children. She moved to Joplin with her father and younger twin brothers in 1940. She later met and married Floyd Williamson on May 2, 1944. They had four children, Jerry, David, Paul and Brenda.
In addition to her four children, she had eight grandchildren, Chris, Lisa, Jeff, Michael, Teresa, Stacy, Christina, and Julie, and eleven great grandchildren.
Louise was ill for several years, but she loved the Lord and read her Bible continuously.
On Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014, she passed away with many relatives attending her bedside. She was 88 years old.
So, in loving memory, we said our final good-byes to our beloved Mother and Grandmother on April 23, 2014.

Wallace Floyd Payne, age 88 of Joplin, MO passed away at his home after a recent illness on Tuesday, April 21, 2014.
Wallace was born January 05, 1926 to the late Floyd E. Payne and Helen Miller Payne in De Smet, SD. He attended Texas A&M where he received his Bachelor's degree in engineering. Wallace was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving during WWII. He worked as an Electrical Engineer for Allgeier Martin and Eagle Pitcher before later becoming an independent contractor. Wallace was a member of the American Legion Post 13 of Joplin and St. Peter The Apostle Catholic Church of Joplin.
Wallace married Gladys Hernandez-Guzman Payne on April 30, 1954 in Barcelona, Venezuela. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include three sons, Jorge Payne and wife Susan of East Lyme, CT, Greg Payne and wife Tammy of Carthage, Paul Payne of St. Louis; daughter, Patricia Moore and husband Rick of Joplin, daughter-in-law Ann Payne of Joplin; nine grandchildren, Christina and husband Cabot, Jonathan, Andrea, Katie, Nicole, Gabriela, Riley, Laken and Seagan; two great-grand children, Henry and Elliot; brother, Robert J. Payne of Webb City.

Kathleen Joy Watkins Moffett, age 67, of Joplin, was welcomed home by God on Good Friday evening, April 18, 2014. Born in Joplin to Charles N. and Lucille Doty Watkins, Kathleen graduated from Joplin High School in 1964. She attended the University of Missouri at Kansas City and graduated with the first baccalaureate class of Missouri Southern State College (now MSSU) in 1969, receiving a Bachelor of Arts degree in Drama and Music. She was active in community theater and music groups, sang professionally, and participated in a USO tour to Iceland as a vocalist.
Kathleen dedicated her life to God in 1978, and served in music, youth, women’s and other ministries for the remainder of her life. Her beautiful voice blessed countless people in worship, and she has been a beacon for many with her steadfast and unassuming faith. In addition to her membership in churches in the Wichita and Joplin areas, she was an Oblate of St. Scholastica, the Benedictine women’s community in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
In 1979, Kathleen married her best friend and soul mate, Leonard Moffett, in Wichita, Kansas, and together they participated in and served congregations in Wichita and later in Joplin, where they returned to care for her father until his death.
Kathleen found her life’s work in helping children and families. She worked for the Jasper County office of the Division of Family Services for the past 18 years, serving as an alternative care supervisor for the Children’s Division for the past several years.
She has been a member of the MSSU Choral Society for many years. She was vice-president of the board of NAMI Joplin (National Alliance for Mental Illness), coordinated NAMI’s annual walkathon and taught in its Family to Family support program for families of people suffering from mental illness.
Kathleen’s parents, Charles and Lucille Watkins, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Leonard Moffett, of the home, and by her sister, Mary (Steve) Blankenship, of Salem, Oregon, two nephews, John (Cynthia) Stinson and Charles (Josie) Blankenship, also of Salem, Oregon, cousins Tom (Barbara) Watkins, of Joplin, Steven (Nancy) Durall of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Jane Hope, Ellen Doty and Teresa Read of Salem, Oregon, 4 great- nieces and nephews, and many friends.

Earney James (Jim) Thompson Jr., age 77 of Joplin, passed away at 11:08 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital.
Born November 9, 1936 in San Diego, CA, he was the son of Earney James Thompson and Gladys Martha (Howe) Thompson and had lived in Joplin since 1992. He served in the US Army Artillery from 1955 to 1963. He began his career in radio and newspaper advertising before becoming a licensed general building contractor in the state of California. After retiring from construction, he moved with his wife Shirley back to Missouri to be closer to their children and grandchildren. During “retirement” he invented, designed and manufactured an effective prosthetic shower protector that continues to aid amputees across the country.
Preceding him in death are his parents, two brothers, Robert and John Reed, and a sister, Dorothy (Thompson) O’Donnell.
On November 8, 1958, he married Shirley R. Stewart in Oxnard, CA. She survives.

Emily Clements, age 74, of Lamar, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at her home, surrounded by her family.
Emily was born August 23, 1939 at Lamar, the third of six children of Carl and Orpha (Dixon) Jungmann. After graduating from Lamar High School in 1957, Emily worked as a key punch operator for the Federal Reserve in Kansas City, Missouri. On February 14, 1958, in Kansas City, she married the love of her life, Don Clements and she embarked on her most important and fulfilling career, that of wife and mother. Making their home in Lamar, Emily worked in the school cafeteria for several years, then as an optometric assistant for Dr. Swearingen for many years, and Home Health Office Manager for Barton County Health Department for 12 years, retiring in 2006. She was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she served as organist and was involved in Marriage Encounter, Parent Effectiveness Training, Camp Renewal, and was a St. Mary’s Youth Group Leader, organizing many activities and ski trips throughout the years. She was a member of St. Mary’s Altar Society, Missouri Optometric Association, and the Lamar T.O.P.S. group.
Emily was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Orpha Jungmann; father and mother-in-law, Ted and Ruby Clements; brothers-in-law, Paul Gerke, Roy Clements, and Bob Selvey; and sister-in-law, Betty Selvey.

Born November 5, 1985 in Joplin, she lived in Joplin most of her lifetime. A talented cook, she maintained an open-door policy inviting many family and friends to share meals, particularly on holidays. Some of her character traits included her humor, honesty and being a great listener. She enjoyed helping others and her life has impacted countless friends and acquaintances.
On August 8, 2008 she married Stephen G. Gutierrez. He survives.
Additional survivors include two sons, Stephen Izaius Gutierrez, age 8, Kingston Charles Gutierrez, age 5; an infant daughter, Amari Divine Gutierrez, age 7-weeks; her mother, Junell Henson of Joplin; maternal grandfather, Charles Henson, maternal grandmother, Mary Henson (who passed away on Thursday of this week); mother-in-law, Stephanie Gutierrez of Hollis, OK; many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
Alissa was a vibrant, creative adventurous soul who wanted to experience the depth of what life had to offer. As a homemaker, she presented her own unique style with grace and exuberance. Her children were molded by her beliefs in goodness, kindness and scholarly instruction. They were her love and inspiration. Her husband, Stephen, was the love of her life and her very best friend. Her love, joy and eagerness to be a part of everything was a shining star. Her love for her mother was unending. In the short 28 years they had together, they formed a bond that will endure forever. Alissa leaves behind family and friends who will miss her sweet smile and determined disposition.

Gary L. Randolph M.D., age 76, of Joplin, Mo. passed away at 12:49 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at his home following a one year illness. Gary was born February 1, 1938 in McPherson, Kansas. Following graduation from McPherson High School in 1956 Gary graduated from Kansas State University with his Bachelor’s Degree. He graduated from Kansas University Medical School in 1964 and served his internship at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Mo. Gary served his country in the U. S. Air Force as a Flight Surgeon, including two years in “Area 51”, and was discharged with the rank of Captain. He then moved to the Anaheim and Auburn California areas where he worked in Emergency Medicine and Family Practice. Gary moved to Joplin in 1996 where he worked at St. John’s Regional Medical Center Emergency Room. Prior to his illness Gary was working at the Mercy Convenient Care at 13th and Rangeline.
Gary loved flying and had his private pilot’s license, and enjoyed flying remote control airplanes. He was a member of a College Heights Christian Church Home Group and recently committed his life to the Lord.
Gary married Sue Maurer January 8, 1966 in Prairie Village, Kansas and she survives. Additional survivors include one daughter, Stephanie Wilson and husband Todd, Wichita, Kansas, two grandchildren, Shane and Luke Wilson, one sister, Suzann Stuart and husband Greg, Council Grove, Ks., one brother, Ron Randolph and wife Linda, Lafayette, La., four nephews, Mark and Brent Lehner, and Dan and Greg Randolph, a niece, Jenni Skipper, and a special Aunt, Pat Randolph, Liberty, Mo.
The family would like to thank all those who cared for Gary in the Mercy system: the Hospital, Infusion Center, Physical Therapy and Hospice; and all the friends and family whose outpouring of love for Gary has carried them through this journey and shown them the love of Christ.

Terry was born on July 25, 1955 in Monett, Mo., the son of Everett R. and Donna C. (Cunningham) Lauderdale. He proudly served his country as part of the U.S. Marine Corps. Following his service, Terry worked as a computer programmer and technician for many years until illness forced him to retire. He enjoyed working on computers and playing music on his guitar. Terry’s passion in life was helping people in their time of need. He always tried to show Christ’s love to others, he loved his God with all his heart.
He is survived by two daughters; Connie McCandless of Thompsons Station, Tn., Meredith Cuebas of Golden City, one sister; Jackie L. West of Webb City, three brothers; Everett Earl Lauderdale of Joplin, Mo., Jimmy Carl Lauderdale and Tommy Lee Lauderdale both of Neosho, Mo., and three grandchildren; Burgandi McCandless, Nakee Cuebas and Cheyenne Cuebas. Terry was preceded in death by his parents, his son; Everett L. Lauderdale, and one brother; Robert Eugene Lauderdale.

He was born on August 22, 1939 in Carterville, Missouri to Clarence Hedgcorth and Velma Scott Hedgcorth. Carroll was a United States Navy Veteran, worked construction for Midwestern Telephone Company for over 20 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carterville. He loved to spend time with his family and play with his grandchildren. Carroll would help anyone in need and never ask a question or for anything in return.
He married Linda Hembree Hedgcorth on August 11, 1962 in Carterville, Missouri and she survives him at the home. Carroll is also survived by his son, Darren Hedgcorth and wife Deidre of Cassville, MO; daughter, Carol Lee and husband Randy of Carthage; sisters, Frances Heiniger and husband Robert of Carterville, Betty Dean and husband Ivan of Joplin; special friend, Jerry Pearson of Carterville; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews and preceded in death by a brother Dale Hedgcorth.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. James J. Holden, age 84, formerly of Joplin, passed away at 3:12 p.m. on Wednesday, April 16, 2014 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield after a sudden illness.
Born October 27, 1929 in the Chitwood community of Joplin, he was the son of the late Aaron and Rosie Waggoner Holden. He lived in Joplin his lifetime until moving to be near a daughter in Springfield following the 2011 Joplin tornado. James served in both the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force and was a Korean War Veteran. He was a licensed Real Estate Agent and Real Estate Appraiser. He was an avid fisherman.
On July 13, 1952 he married Patsy A. Jeter in Eureka Springs, AR. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, Jim Holden of Joplin; two daughters, Kathy Firey and husband Sam of Joplin, Debbie Whitlock and husband Brad of Springfield; two grandchildren, Michael Holden of Joplin, Tamblyn Rowe of Oklahoma City; three great-grandchildren, Tori, Logan and Jade; two great-great-grandchildren, Ciera and Bella.

Mr. Lawson worked for Maytag and owned and operated a Lawn Mower Repair Shop and car wash business for many years. He was baptized into Christ on February 28, 1971. Mr. Lawson moved to Neosho in 1996 from Newton Iowa. He was a member and a teacher at the Church of Christ.
Roscoe and Betty Aldridge were married on May 28, 1971 in Unionville, MO and she preceded him in death on Oct. 18, 2002. He is survived by four daughters, Shirley Lester and husband, Gary,

Sarah and Charles Ernest Martin, Jr. were married on Aug. 11, 1961 in Miami, OK and he preceded her in death on January 27, 2012. She is survived by two sons, Mark Martin, Neosho and Ronald Carter and wife, Shirley, Broken, Arrow, OK; two grandchildren, Charles Martin and wife, Sarah and Jason Carter and wife, Kim, Atlanta, GA and four great grandchildren, Alexus, Cheyenne and Courtney, Atlanta, GA.

Marion H. "Pete" Pierce, age 73, Carthage, Missouri, passed away on Wednesday, April 16, 2014.
Pete was a Christian man born July 11, 1940 in Harrison, Arkansas to the late Marion E. and Ernestine Pierce, and he graduated from Alba High School.
Pete married Marybelle Katherine Alumbaugh on October 18, 1958. They had four children, daughters Julie Jones and husband Bruce of Webb City, Sheila Runyan and husband Thomas of Springfield, Missouri, and Treva Vailes who preceded him in death. a son, Ralph Pierce and wife Sheri of Oronogo, Missouri; nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, with one on the way.
Pete worked at Carthage Marble as a heavy equipment operator for 43 years before retiring in 2005. He enjoyed being outdoors where he loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed farming, and Webb City Football.
Pete is also survived by his brothers, David and Robert Pierce both of Carthage, and a sister, Polly Roy of Webb City.
In addition to his parents, and daughter, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marybelle, and a brother, John Pierce.
Pete was known as a loving Dad, PaPa, and CowPaPa. He was loved dearly, and will be greatly missed.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Webb City with Dr. Joe Dan Fowler and Rev. Gerald Holden officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
Private inurnment of his ashes will occur at a later date in Friends Cemetery, Purcell, Missouri, next to his wife.

On April 14, 2014, Adam Paul Hoover passed away in Iowa City, Iowa. Adam was born in Iowa City on October 2, 1966 to parents H. Dee and Jill Hoover.
Adam was a member of the graduating class of 1985 from Iowa City High School. He attended the University of Iowa for three years, then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from Missouri State University (formerly known as Southwest Missouri State University) in 1991, and settled in Carthage, MO. He worked for many years in construction, owning AHoover Construction Company, and Renaissance Remodeling. During that time, he was an officer in the Home Builders Association (HBA), and built and managed several rental properties. Adam excelled in all aspects of carpentry, and his craftsmanship was outstanding. He became a broker for HealthMarkets Insurance Agency in 2010, and spent many long months becoming fluent in tax codes and other insurance-related areas. He also became an officer in the local Business Network International (BNI) group based in Joplin, MO.
Those left behind to mourn his sudden passing are the absolute loves of his life, his children: Ben (17), Caden (8), and Jalynn (5), all of Carthage, MO, his wife, Mishell of Carthage, his father, H. Dee (Myrene) of Iowa City, and his mother, Jill (Lynn Fox) of West Branch, IA; his brothers David of La Sarraz, Switzerland, and Ethan (Angie) of Iowa City; his nieces and nephews, Zachary and Elsa Jane Hoover of La Sarraz, and George and Charlotte Hoover of Iowa City; his friend Kim Hoover, mother of his son Ben, of Carthage; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; step-grandmother Irene Hildebrand of Wheat Ridge CO, and a host of friends. All have lost a talented, gentle and loving man.
Adam was preceded in death by his infant brother Aaron, his cousin, Isaac Figgs, his grandparents, Ruth and Hiram Hoover, and Jane and Lyman Shaw, and step-grandfather, Tom Hildebrand.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 21, at 1:00 p.m., at the Fairview Christian Church, 2320 Grand Ave., in Carthage. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a casual reception celebrating Adam’s life, at 2502 Theo Street in Carthage. A tentative date of Saturday May 17 is being planned for a gathering in the Iowa City area to honor Adam.

Glenn Jurgens

Glenn John Jurgens, age 92, of Curtis, Nebraska, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.
Glenn was born November 4, 1921 on a farm west of Moorefield, Nebraska, one of the four children of George and Emma (Waltemath) Jurgens. After graduating from Moorefield High School in 1939, he attended Kearney College for one year before serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. Returning home after the war, Glenn earned a BA from Hasting College in 1949 and began a 49 year career in teaching math, first at UNSA, then MVHS and UNSTA, impacting the lives of innumerable students. An active member of his community, Glenn was a boy scout leader, served on the city council and the ambulance board, was instrumental in the Curtis Little Theater, and the Methodist church choir. After retiring, he enjoyed traveling, wood-working, playing golf, and, most importantly, the love of family and the fellowship of friends.
On August 11, 1946, he married the love of his life, Beverly McDermott, and they had celebrated 62 years together before her death January 9, 2008. He was also preceded in death by his parents; his son, John Chris; and two brothers Chris Jurgens and Porge Jurgens.
Survivors include two sons, Randy (Cheryl) Jurgens, Lincoln, Nebraska, and Rod (Jo) Jurgens, Lamar, Missouri; a daughter, Pam Jurgens, Curtis, Nebraska; a sister, Francis Greenwood, Wellfleet, Nebraska; 12 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at noon, Monday, April 14th, at Curtis United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Fort McPherson National Cemetery near Maxwell, Nebraska.

On November 4, 1950, she married John Jr. Griffitt in Jackson County, MO and together they raised three children. She had worked in the Camera Department at Gill’s Studio in Lenexa, KS, and for Oxford Healthcare for 15 years then as a private caregiver for 15 years. After living away, she moved back to Lamar, MO in 1989.
She leaves behind one son, Rick & Kathy Griffitt, Lamar, MO; two daughters, Carol & Phil Nash, Kansas City, KS and Linda & Jim Nemeth, Tonganoxie, KS; her best friend of 18 years, Gene Compton; two brothers, Harlen & Joan Schick, Carterville, MO and Gary & Susie Schick, Joplin, MO; two sisters, Violet Houdyshell, Joplin, and Bea Allen, Lamar, MO; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was born on July 30, 1969 in Kingman, Arizona to Lyle Martin and Beverly Horner Martin. Lylelen was a homemaker. She loved life and lived it her way. She had the biggest heart and loved everyone. If someone was in need she would try to help in any way she could. Lylelen was a hard worker; she put her whole heart into everything she did. She had her own style and knew how to cheer you up. Lylelen loved her family more than anything and did everything she could to keep her family happy. Love was the biggest and greatest gift she had.
She is survived by her boyfriend, Gerald Freeman of Joplin; sisters, Tabatha Chaney and husband Dan of Noel, Valmy Moffet of Joplin; brothers, Robert Martin of Baxter Springs, Jerry Horner of Noel; daughters, Mallory Olson and husband Charles of Joplin, April Rogers of Carthage, Nikki Indicott of Webb City; son, Ricky Hutchison of Amherst, Virginia; granddaughters, Ava Edwards, Emily Olson, Aubrey-Skye King; and one grandson, Mason Olson. Lylelen was preceded in death by a sister, Cristal Martin and her mother, Beverly Baldwin.
She has been taken for cremation and the family will have a memorial service on Monday, April 21, 2014 at 4:00 PM in Schermerhorn Park in Galena, Kansas.

Annabell McAfee Roush, age 61 of Joplin, passed away at 8:31 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at her home after a sudden illness.
Born November 18, 1952 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Donald A. McAfee, Sr. and Rose L. Butler McAfee and lived in Joplin her lifetime. A 1970 graduate of Joplin High School, she was a member of National Honor Society. She received her Licensed Practical Nurse credential through Franklin Technical School in 1971. A nurse for over 30 years, she worked in the Birthing Center at Freeman Hospital before retiring due to ill health. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Joplin, Ladies of the Elks Lodge, No. 501 and V.F.W. Post No. 534 Ladies Auxiliary.
On August 27, 1984 she married Michael Thomas Roush in Miami, OK. He survives.
Additional survivors include children, Eric Roush and Kimberly Roush of Webb City; two brothers, Donald McAfee, Jr. and wife Sally of Carl Junction, Tom McAfee and wife Johna of Joplin; several nieces and nephews.

Interment will follow at Saginaw Cemetery with Jeff Roush, Tom and Don McAfee, Ronnie Nash, Craig Brumfield and Bruce Johnson serving as pallbearers. Joshua McAfee will be an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Joplin in care of the mortuary.

Angie Kay Hoskins, age 50, of Joplin, MO went to her heavenly home on Saturday, April 12, 2014.
Angie was born August 29, 1963 to Phil Thamert and the late Carol Millis Thamert in Texarkana, TX. She graduated from the Carthage High School and also attended classes at Hutchinson Jr. College. Angie was a homemaker and a wonderful mother. She was a very faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in many ministries including Vacation Bible School.
On June 26, 1982 she married Mark Hoskins in Carthage, MO. He survives of the home. Additional survivors include her father, Phil Thamert of Joplin; one son, Patrick Hoskins and wife, Ashley of Oronogo; daughters, Mallory Hoskins of Joplin, Olivia Hoskins of Joplin; brother, Phillip Thamert of Carthage; sister, Lucy Adams of Joplin; grandchildren, Brandon and Melanie Hoskins.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Carol and one sister, Kerri Thamert.
Service are planned for Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Joplin, MO. Family visitation will be Wednesday, April 16, 2014 from 6-7 PM at Parker Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Martin Luther School or New Hope Haiti Mission in care of the mortuary.

Wanda Bell Harris Dickens, 86, Fairview, MO, died April 15, 2014, at the home of her sister, Willadean, where she had made her home the last two years.
Wanda was born November 2, 1927 in Fairview, the daughter of Amza Clovis and Lovena O’Dell (Bradley) Harris. She was a lifelong area resident and attended and graduated from Fairview School and was a member of the Eastern Star for many years. Wanda was a determined and strong woman, who independently raised chickens for Hudson and Simmons for 30 years and then raised dogs with her brother in law, Virgil Flaxbeard in Rocky Comfort for 13 years. Wanda was always willing to give all she could to her family and friends. She was a strong Christian and attended the Living Word Mission in Simco.
Wanda married Kenneth Dickens on August 31, 1946 in Columbus, KS and he preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister, Willadean Allen; brothers, Harold Harris and Ray Harris; three nephews, Larry Harris, Terry Harris and Scott Harris; five nieces, Brenda Granger, Linda Love, Karen Brown, Terrill Murphy and Kitty Harris and numerous great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her younger brother, Clovis Harris and great nephew, Kit Spencer.

Alice Brunner

Alice Maxine Brunner, age 92, of Grove, Ok., formerly of Carthage, Mo., passed away on Thursday April 3, 2014, at Grove Nursing Center, following an illness.
Alice was born on November 17, 1921 in Cabool, Mo., the daughter of the late Obie and Ruth Emeline (Simington) Richardson. She was a member of the Northern Cherokee of Missouri and Arkansas. Alice was very proud of her maternal ancestors. They inter- married with Chickamauga Cherokee of Chattanooga, Tn. and were among the first to relocate west of the Mississippi River in 1836. She married Otis John Brunner on June 27, 1946 in Kansas City, Ks. She owned and operated Brunner Upholstery in Lakeside east of Carterville, Mo. She was a Methodist. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole Mobley and husband Al, Marshfield, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Diana Brunner, Afton, Ok.; three granddaughters, Aleasha Harrison and husband Shane, DiRhonda Wilder and husband Seth, and Amber Lee and husband Bill; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Orvil Rich, Webb City, Mo., and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Brunner in 2007; a son, Ronald G. Brunner in 2008; five sisters, and one brother.
Private family services were held and interment was in Red Oak Cemetery, near Carthage, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home & Crematory.

Bob Mackey

Robert Charles (Bob) Mackey, age 71 of Joplin, passed away at 9:40 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at his home after an illness of many years.
Born November 29, 1942 in Duluth, MN, he was the son of the late Frank E. Mackey and Vera F. Miskimins Mackey. Following his graduation from High School, Bob served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. He was a Veteran of the Vietnam War. Bob was a longtime employee of Southwestern Bell/AT&T and retired as a Project Manager. He had lived in Joplin the past 12 years, moving from the St. Louis are, where he was a longtime resident.
Survivors include two daughters, Sheila Kasner and husband Eric of Eureka, MO, Susan Harmon and husband William of Pacific, MO; his sister, Zola Golden and husband Jack of Joplin; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services with Military Rites will be held 3:00 p.m. Monday with Rev. Bob Simon officiating at Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Family members will serve as pallbearers. Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
