On April 14, 2014, Adam Paul Hoover passed away in Iowa City, Iowa. Adam was born in Iowa City on October 2, 1966 to parents H. Dee and Jill Hoover.
Adam was a member of the graduating class of 1985 from Iowa City High School. He attended the University of Iowa for three years, then earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management from Missouri State University (formerly known as Southwest Missouri State University) in 1991, and settled in Carthage, MO. He worked for many years in construction, owning AHoover Construction Company, and Renaissance Remodeling. During that time, he was an officer in the Home Builders Association (HBA), and built and managed several rental properties. Adam excelled in all aspects of carpentry, and his craftsmanship was outstanding. He became a broker for HealthMarkets Insurance Agency in 2010, and spent many long months becoming fluent in tax codes and other insurance-related areas. He also became an officer in the local Business Network International (BNI) group based in Joplin, MO.
Those left behind to mourn his sudden passing are the absolute loves of his life, his children: Ben (17), Caden (8), and Jalynn (5), all of Carthage, MO, his wife, Mishell of Carthage, his father, H. Dee (Myrene) of Iowa City, and his mother, Jill (Lynn Fox) of West Branch, IA; his brothers David of La Sarraz, Switzerland, and Ethan (Angie) of Iowa City; his nieces and nephews, Zachary and Elsa Jane Hoover of La Sarraz, and George and Charlotte Hoover of Iowa City; his friend Kim Hoover, mother of his son Ben, of Carthage; many aunts, uncles, and cousins; step-grandmother Irene Hildebrand of Wheat Ridge CO, and a host of friends. All have lost a talented, gentle and loving man.
Adam was preceded in death by his infant brother Aaron, his cousin, Isaac Figgs, his grandparents, Ruth and Hiram Hoover, and Jane and Lyman Shaw, and step-grandfather, Tom Hildebrand.
A memorial service will be held on Monday April 21, at 1:00 p.m., at the Fairview Christian Church, 2320 Grand Ave., in Carthage. Following the service, family and friends are invited to a casual reception celebrating Adam’s life, at 2502 Theo Street in Carthage. A tentative date of Saturday May 17 is being planned for a gathering in the Iowa City area to honor Adam.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Adam Hoover Trust Fund at MidWestOne Bank, 102 S. Clinton, Iowa City, IA, 52240, attn: John Chadima. This fund will be used exclusively for his children’s college education.
