Mrs. Virginia N. Coleman, 73, of Joplin, Missouri, departed this life on Monday, April 28, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin, after a long illness.
Virginia entered this life on October 5, 1940, in Joplin, Missouri, to the late Thomas and Lois (Ketcher) Haynes. She was a lifelong area resident of Joplin. On April 25, 1958, she was united in marriage to Herbie E. Coleman and to this union three sons and three daughters were born. She worked alongside her husband for several years detailing cars for numerous area dealerships. Later in life she worked in home healthcare. She enjoyed playing bingo and traveling with her sisters to various casinos.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbie Coleman on April 5, 1983; an infant daughter, Lois Lucille Coleman; and two brothers, Melvin and Burl Haynes.
Virginia is survived by three sons, Herbie “Pete” Coleman and wife, Leigh, of Carthage, Missouri, Tommy Coleman and wife, April, of Joplin and Darwin Coleman and wife, Stacey, also of Joplin; two daughters, Ramona Reppond and husband, Ralph, of Webb City, Missouri and Carla Green and husband, Dustin, of Joplin; twelve grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; five sisters, Alice Boyer, Carolyn Barnard, Edna Frossard, Maxine Bulen and Sharon Atwood all of Joplin; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other family and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Coleman are 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 2, 2014, in the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary in Joplin, Missouri with Ralph Reppond officiating. Burial will follow in the Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6-7:00 p.m. in the mortuary chapel.
