Vickie Lyn Carey, age 68, Diamond, passed away at 9:15 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014 at her residence after a long illness.
Vickie was born March 3, 1946 in Wichita, Kansas to the late Oadis Frisbie and Grace Erwin Frisbie.
She graduated from Diamond High School in 1964 and earned an associate’s degree from Crowder College. Vickie worked as a real estate agent for 15 years and was associated with several area agencies, including Century 21. She was later employed by J.C. Penney for six years and sold Mary Kay cosmetics for four years.
Vickie was active with the Joplin Genealogy Society and enjoyed scrapbooking; cake decorating and cross stitching.
She married William ‘Pat’ Carey on June 15, 1977 in Carthage. He survives at the home.
Additional survivors include a son, Danny Rex Judd, Rogers, Arkansas; two daughters, Melissa Judd Jackson and her husband, Scott, Berryville, Arkansas, Shannan Wallace and her husband, Jeremy, Carthage; and 10 grandchildren, Cory Judd, Emily Judd, Kyle Judd, Carson Judd, Jordan Jackson, Mary-Kennedy Jackson, Mills Jackson, Kasilla Wallace, Addison Wallace, and Rylee Wallace.
Services are planned for Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Diamond Christian Church. Mike Wharlow will officiate. Interment will follow at Diamond Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Scott Jackson, Jeremy Wallace, Cory Judd, Bobby Pearish, Bruce Carey, Jimmy Carey, Randy Carey and Brian Carey. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6-7:00 p.m. at Parker Mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project, in care of Parker Mortuary.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
