Gigi Marie Wallace Smith, age 54, Carl Junction, passed away on Sunday, April 6, 2014 at Freeman West Hospital.
Gigi was born July 13, 1959 in Garden City, Kansas, and moved to Joplin as a child. She attended Joplin Schools, and graduated from Parkwood High School in 1977. She worked for her family's painting business, and later as a cook at Stewart's Cafe in Asbury where the owners described her as a dedicated employee that help keep the restaurant open for a number of additional years. Most of her adult life was spent being a mom and taking care of her children. She especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin in Wella Park, and loved her cats, Addie Girl and Graham Cracker.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Patty Owen, her father, Clark Wallace, a sister, Lisa Vermillion, and a lifelong friend, Kelley Pierce.
She is survived by Tim Smith of Carl Junction; daughters, Jennifer Arnold, and Samantha Adams and husband Blake all of Carl Junction; son, Jasyn Smith of Riverton, Kansas; grandchildren, Georgia, Gracie, Morgan, Tucker, Landen, Kale, Cooper, Huntyr, Cartyr, Bryar, Gunnyr; siblings, Randy Owen, Julie Cleveland, Dana Owen, and Dale Owen; many nieces, nephews, and friends including her close friend, Rebecca Pendergraft.
Memorial services will be Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel. A celebration of her life will be held for family and friends at the cabin in Wella Park following the service.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary.
