Alice Maxine Brunner, age 92, of Grove, Ok., formerly of Carthage, Mo., passed away on Thursday April 3, 2014, at Grove Nursing Center, following an illness.
Alice was born on November 17, 1921 in Cabool, Mo., the daughter of the late Obie and Ruth Emeline (Simington) Richardson. She was a member of the Northern Cherokee of Missouri and Arkansas. Alice was very proud of her maternal ancestors. They inter- married with Chickamauga Cherokee of Chattanooga, Tn. and were among the first to relocate west of the Mississippi River in 1836. She married Otis John Brunner on June 27, 1946 in Kansas City, Ks. She owned and operated Brunner Upholstery in Lakeside east of Carterville, Mo. She was a Methodist. She enjoyed fishing, cooking and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by a daughter, Carole Mobley and husband Al, Marshfield, Mo.; daughter-in-law, Diana Brunner, Afton, Ok.; three granddaughters, Aleasha Harrison and husband Shane, DiRhonda Wilder and husband Seth, and Amber Lee and husband Bill; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Orvil Rich, Webb City, Mo., and many nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Otis Brunner in 2007; a son, Ronald G. Brunner in 2008; five sisters, and one brother.
Private family services were held and interment was in Red Oak Cemetery, near Carthage, Mo.
Arrangements are under the direction of Hedge-Lewis Funeral Home & Crematory.
