Paul Earl McCoy, age 89 of Duenweg, MO passed away Friday April 25, 2014 at his home. He was born on December 29, 1924 in Ottumwa, IA the son of Earl and Vera “Johnston” McCoy. Paul worked for Montgomery Ward retiring in 1983 and then he worked for Pearl Brothers Hardware. He Married Grace Wiggins-Warthen on September 23, 1969 in Ft. Collins, CO. Paul was a member of the First Baptist Church of Duenweg where he served as deacon and enjoyed gardening.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Raymond McCoy, and a sister Lois Sumrall. Survivors include his wife Grace of the home, three sons: Ed Warthen and wife Brenda of Joplin, MO, Mervin Warthen of Neosho, MO and Melvin Warthen and wife Lorri of Visalia, CA; two daughters; Marshell Spoonmore of Moulton, IA and Melanie Edge and husband Dennis of Diamond, MO a brother John McCoy and wife Joan, three sisters: Milly Helmkay, Iris Stewart and Mary Lou Wollums; 16 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren with one on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday May 1, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Duenweg with Pastor Greg Gooch officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday at the Mason-Woodard Mortuary. Private family inurnment will be held at the Stone Cemetery at a later date. The family suggests contributions to the First Baptist Church of Duenweg in care of the mortuary. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mason-Woodard Mortuary.
