Martha Bayne Stahl, age 89, of Lamar, passed away Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at St. Joseph Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri.
Martha was born June 7, 1924, at Lamar, one of the three children of Lester and Margaret (Moran) Pahlow. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Pahlow, and her sister, Margaret Lee (Pahlow) James.
After graduating from Lamar High School in 1942, Martha furthered her education at Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri. She worked for Frank Thorpe at Thorpe Industries for two years before joining the staff at Pahlow & Pahlow on the Lamar Square. On December 14, 1946, at Lamar, Martha married Donald Dee Stahl and they made their home and raised their three children in Barton County. After many years with Pahlow & Pahlow, Martha retired to devote more time to what she cherished most, being a wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed reading, jigsaw puzzles, and cooking, making special “Saturday Night” memories for her family. She will be remembered by many for her ready smile and warm hospitality. Martha was a member of Lamar United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 67 years, Don; two sons, Ralph (Ann) Stahl and Jack (Sherri) Stahl, all of Lamar; a daughter, Mary (Rick) Davidson, Joplin; ten grandchildren, Angel (Kevin) Patterson, Donovan (Jessica) Stahl, Marty (Jeremy) Ansley, Becky (Logan) Powell, Wendy (Lindy) Rose, Kim Earl, Kelly (Brock) Phipps, Kerry (Jason) Cravens, Kaycia (Joe) Jones, and Ashley Davidson; 30 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday, April 26th, at Daniel Funeral Home. Burial was in Lake Cemetery.
Memorial contributions are suggested to Lamar United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
