Carroll D. Hedgcorth age 74 passed away on Friday, April 18, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born on August 22, 1939 in Carterville, Missouri to Clarence Hedgcorth and Velma Scott Hedgcorth. Carroll was a United States Navy Veteran, worked construction for Midwestern Telephone Company for over 20 years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carterville. He loved to spend time with his family and play with his grandchildren. Carroll would help anyone in need and never ask a question or for anything in return.
He married Linda Hembree Hedgcorth on August 11, 1962 in Carterville, Missouri and she survives him at the home. Carroll is also survived by his son, Darren Hedgcorth and wife Deidre of Cassville, MO; daughter, Carol Lee and husband Randy of Carthage; sisters, Frances Heiniger and husband Robert of Carterville, Betty Dean and husband Ivan of Joplin; special friend, Jerry Pearson of Carterville; 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews and preceded in death by a brother Dale Hedgcorth.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City at 2:00 PM. A visitation will be held on Tuesday at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until time of the service. Burial with full military honors will follow in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the First Baptist Church of Carterville in care of the funeral home in his memory.
Services are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home in Webb City.
