Leanna ‘Gale’ Browning-Potter, 67, Neosho, died Aug. 13, 2014 at her home, following a lengthy illness.
Gale was born June 5, 1947 in Shawnee, OK, the daughter of Galen and Leila Jo Browning. She moved to Neosho in 1987 from Paola, Kansas. Gale was known for the beautiful and powerful way she played the piano at Calvary Baptist Church in Joplin, Pearl Street Baptist Church in Paola, KS and First Baptist Church in Neosho. In 1960-1970, Gale played for several quartets that came to the area, some of those being the Blackwood Brothers, Statesman and Cathedral Quartet. She was known for raising red poodles and nine of her poodles went to championship. She had raised dogs for 30 years. Gale also opened a gift shop and scrapbook store, ‘Just For You’ in Neosho and ‘Scrapbook Frenzy’ in Rogers, AR. She retired twelve years ago due to health reasons.
Gale was married to Kenny Potter for 38 years and he survives. She is also survived by three children, Brian Douglas Potter and wife, Kellie, Neosho; Kenna Lea Potter-Keeling, Neosho and Julie Elizabeth Potter-Gutherie and husband, Daniel, seven grandchildren, Kyle Potter, Ashlie Reed, Connor Keeling, Kimber Chew, Nick Potter, Caleb Keeling and Austyn Guthrie; three great grandchildren, Kya Lynn Potter, Braydon Woodcock, Elijah Chew and one great grandson due to arrive in September; three siblings, Ann Ashcraft, Cathy Browning and Mark Browning and a step brother, Dale Mitchell.
