James Albert "Jim" Wallander passed this life on Aug. 8, 2014, at 9:35 a.m. at Lake Regional Hospital, at the age of 74.
Jim is the son of Jesse A and Viola Wallander (Hutchinson). He was born at their home in Decaturville, Mo., on Oct. 5, 1939. He is survived by four brothers, Jerry Wallander and his wife, Jackie, of Decaturville, Jack Wallander and his wife, Judy, of Decaturville, Kenny Wallander, of Camdenton, Mo., and Randall Wallander and his wife, Marsha, of Roach, Mo. He also has two sisters, Brenda Tribble and her husband, Darrel, of Macks Creek, Mo., and Virginia Williams and her husband, Jason, of Lebanon, Mo. He also has one brother, Jeffrey, who preceded him in death. Jim was saved as a teenager at Lebanon Baptist Church in Lebanon. He finished ninth grade before starting work with his dad at the sawmill.
He married Faye Pulley on May 25, 1957, and they had two children, Debbie Sue and Jimmy Dean. He married Bettie Jones on Oct. 17, 1969, and they had two sons, Steve Jones and Timothy Wallander. Bettie and Jim lived on the lake in Roach, for the past 12 years. He was happiest when fishing on his dock, hunting, or spending time with his family. Jim is survived by his four children and their spouses, Debbie Price and her husband, Rick, of Roach, Jimmy Dean Wallander and his friend, Mindy, of Camdenton, Mo., Steve Jones and his wife, Jill, of Holiday Island, Ark., and Timothy Wallander and his wife, Beth, of Webb City, Mo. He also has six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
His visitation will be held in Camdenton, at Hedges-Scott Mortuary and there will be a graveside service in Joplin, Mo., at Ozark Memorial Cemetery. Information about funeral arrangements may be obtained by calling Hedges Mortuary in Camdenton, or Mason-Woodard in Joplin.
