Lena Mae Lombard, age 78, of Joplin, passed away on Tuesday August 5, 2014, at Landmark Hospital, following an illness.
Lena was born on December 27, 1935 in Stella, Mo., the daughter of the late Charles and Nola (Schell) Hall. She has been a lifetime area resident. She married Veril Lombard on October 6, 1950. Together they made their home and raised three children. Lena enjoyed bird watching, cooking, sewing, fishing and camping. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who just enjoyed life.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Veril Lombard; their son, Veril Lombard, Jr.; their daughter, Gail Rose; six brothers, Audrey, Arlie, Kenneth, Veril, Dean and Donnie Hall; and a grandson, Lee Britton Fredrick. She is survived by one daughter, Cathy Vinyard and husband Fred, Seneca, Mo.; one brother, Galin Leroy Hall, Cameron, Mo.; one sister, Laveta Manley, Avilla, Mo.; seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Reverend Jarel Burnside will officiate. Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. The pallbearers will be Jaxon Fredrick, Britton Fredrick, Tres Lombard, Zachary Coblentz, Robert Ferrel and Eric Daniels. Paul Coston will serve as an honorary pallbearer. The family will receive friends 3-4 p.m. Sunday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in care of the mortuary.
