Peggy Geraldine ‘Geri’ Setser, age 76, Joplin, passed away at 10:22 p.m. Sunday, August 17, 2014 at her home after a long illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Lee Setser, the love of her life; and her grandson, Jason Young.
Geri was born December 20, 1937 in Picher, Oklahoma to the late Clayton Nelums and Nancy Bond Nelums and had lived in the Joplin area most of her life.
A homemaker, she had worked as a medical secretary and as a ‘mixologist’ at several area clubs. She was a gifted painter and enjoyed playing the piano.
In addition to her parents, Geri was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include three children, Conni Womack and her husband, Mark, Joplin, Toni Setser, Rogers, Arkansas, Teresa Setser, Joplin; two grandchildren, Ryan Vermillion and Keisha Vermillion; and three great grandchildren, Courtney Vermillion, Keagan Vermillion and Laneaya Gilmore; and two sisters, Shirley Reed, Commerce, Oklahoma, Sue Brookshire, Miami;.
Geri has been taken for cremation. There will be no formal services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Joplin Humane Society.
Arrangements are under the direction of Parker Mortuary and friends and family are encouraged to stop by to sign the guest book.
