Sharon Ann Luke, age 66, Neosho, Mo., passed away on Monday, August 4, 2014, at Freeman Hospital, following a long illness.
Sharon was born on September 16, 1947 in Joplin the daughter of the late Glenn and Shirley (West) Matchell. She has been a lifetime area resident. She graduated from Joplin Senior High School in 1965. She worked for the Daisy Company, Crowder Industries, Talbot Wire and most recently PETSMART. For several years she operated Sharon’s Kennel. She attended the Cave Springs Baptist Church. In her early years she played the piano in church and enjoyed riding horses. She loved all animals and was especially fond of dogs and horses. She was a loving wife and mother.
She married William “Bill” Luke on November 19, 1970 in Joplin, and he survives. Additional survivors include, two sons, Carl Jennings, Wichita, Ks., and William L. Luke, Jr. Neosho, Mo.; one sister, Glenda Bailey, Carl Jct., Mo.; two sister-in-laws, Dorothy VanVolkinburg and husband Lonnie, and Barbara Twenter, Joplin; and one grandson, Dalton Bridges. She was preceded in death by a son, Collin Jennings in June of 2013.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends 7-8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be given to the Joplin Humane Society in care of the mortuary. Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
