Marie E. Banwart, 92 of Lamar, Missouri went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Barton County Hospital.
Marie was born on November 24, 1921 at the village of Oakton, Missouri to Fred and Emma Lanz. Marie was a lifelong resident of Barton County. She was an active member of Iantha United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women.
Marie graduated from Liberal High school in 1940. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Joplin College in education. She was a beloved teacher in various schools where she taught for 41 years. She retired in 1985. Marie married Keith Simons in 1945 and he passed away in 1982. She married Floyd Banwart in 1985. Marie is survived by one son, Wally Simons, three daughters; Ann Landrum, Judy Miller, and Patti Todd, 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren plus a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at the Konantz-Warden Funeral Home Chapel on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 from 6-8 pm. Her funeral service will be on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of the funeral home followed by committal service at Iantha Cemetery.
The family suggests donations to the Iantha United Methodist Church in care of the funeral home.
