James F. “Jim” McMullen, age 76, of Lamar, passed away Sunday, August 24, 2014 at his home.
Jim was born February 23, 1938 in Dayton, Kentucky, to James W. and Clara Belle (Burgin) McMullen. He lived and worked in several states, moving to Barton County in 2000 to be near family. Jim was a HVAC maintenance and repairman by profession and an accomplished, self-taught plumber, carpenter and landscaper throughout his life. He had a passion for bowling and was a Brunswick pin-setting machine mechanic who was a master at repairing bowling pins and resurfacing alley lanes. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed gardening, camping, hunting, and fishing. He was a member of Forest Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, James (Rosmarie) McMullen, Lamar, David McMullen, Morrow, Georgia, and Steven (Maria) McMullen, Washburn, Missouri; three daughters, Susan (Mike) Moreland, Owasso, Oklahoma, Debbie (Louis) Henderson, and Kimberly (Robert) Tillford, all of Cassville, Missouri; the mother of his children, Mary Hill, Cassville; a brother, Ray (Mary Ann) McMullen, Deltona, Florida; two sisters, Anne (Larry) Cook, Deltona, and Lois Bradley of Ohio; 11 grandchildren, Elizabeth (Andrew), Rebekah, Kathryn, Faith, Tiffany, Michael, Renee, Amber, Michelle, Cory, and Logan; and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 28th, at First Baptist Church of Lamar where the family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Thursday.
